If USTAF doesn’t adhere to anti doping rules they should be banned from international competition.

Hey Jonathan Gault, you got something to say now?
I'd never thought I'd see the day when I think USA Track and Field needs to be banned from international competition, but here we are.
This is an unbelievable decision by USATF. History will not look back on this kindly, mark my words.
I have to wonder: would they make this decision if she was a Brooks athlete, for example? This all feels a bit like the same old song and dance where Nike throws their weight around at USATF. From getting Gabe DQd at indoors, to the screaming assaults in the infield tents, this is just feels like yet another Nike flex.

From what I understand, Shelby's appeal was presented by none other than Travis Tygart
Is this confirmed anywhere? That would be amazing and should cost Tygart his job. How can he be an independent regulator if he's advocating for specific athletes? How would he justify not getting involved in every US athletes appeal in future?
He's either the leader of the anti-doping movement in the US or he's an advocate for Nike athletes.

Getting Gabe DQ'd was possibly the worst thing they've ever done.

What we are now witnessing is all out war by Nike on Wada. No way Shelby and BTC pull this stunt without Nike's blessing and USATF is not listening to any court, they are listening to Nike. Nike does not like these foreign institutions messing with their bottom line and they are going to try to destroy the anti-doping agencies who get in the way of their profits. Maybe this anti-doping infrastructure needs to be demolished and rebuilt, but in the end, it probably will just be a subsidiary of Nike Inc. Is Nike bigger than WADA, are they bigger than the IOC. Maybe they should pull all Nike athletes out of the games across all sports unless SH is reinstated?? That is the level of depravity we are all witnessing.
It's funny that you think track and field is part of Nike's bottom line.
more news about to drop- 4pm EST, wait for it
If Allie Buchalski ate a tainted pork green chile enchilada from one of ABQs fine New Mexican food establishments during altitude camp, tested positive, and received a 4-year ban, USATF would have to allow her to compete or the entire Athlete Special following would riot.
This is so F(&*(*&(* on so many levels.
If she runs and wins, she is directly impacting the financial future of the potential winner.
It's total BS
Now I'm confused and maybe someone can explain it to me. But under WADA rule 2.10.1- 2.11 I thought associating with a a banned doper is grounds for a 2yr ban. So here are my questions then:
1. Does competing in the OT count as association?
2.If it does count as association, how can the USATF just ignore the ruling?
3. If it is association and you can be banned for stepping on the line with her, why would anyone step on the line with her tomorrow?

I want Allie Buchalski to whoop up on BTC more than ever now.

Really? Where did you read that?
Shelby's legal team conducted the "investigation". They presented their evidence of Shelby's innocence to the CAS judges who ultimately decided it wasn't convincing.
What were the screaming assaults in the infield tents?
Not doubting it, just hadn’t heard of this before. Wouldn’t put it past Nike to be actively silencing this type of negative press.
Bonus: Quigley unfollowed Houlihan on Instagram

1 - yes, see the other trail thread with Baumann at the German Champioship (lots of bans!)
2 - ?
3 - a hard decision. If you step off, no US title + no Olympics. If you race -> ban likely. But you can hope that WA, especially with Nike's Coe at the top, will give in sooner or later.

USATF is being ridiculous, because if she gets top three she still won't be able to compete in Tokyo. They are just amplifying the drama 100x
You are correct. On the surface it seems that allowing Houlihan to compete is crazy if there is no way for her to be in the Olympics.
Which makes me think that there is something else going on. Either legal action that we aren't yet aware of, or some kind of expedited appeal to the Swiss court that is above the CAS.
Oh, they care about every last dime. If they didn't why would they stick their logo on all of the t&f kits? You don't think the vast legions of hobby joggers are not swayed? Yes, t&f and road racing is an important part of the brand and their bottom line.
