And what is your PR, sir? For a collegian (or anyone), this is an excellent performance and 27 seconds off his PR!!! He will be top 6-7 at the trials, with an outside shot at top 3 in a championship style race.
So negative.....you must be a drag at parties!
Much slower than 27:41. How is that relevant?
27:41 is a solid run for a college athlete. Which I said. This however does not put him in the conversation to make the Olympic team.
Please tell me how Mantz' chances improve in a "tactical" (I think you mean "slow) race? The guy is more of a grinder and has less basic speed than many others who will be in the field.
Agree to disagree on the chances of someone in the top 10. Top 20 collegiate mark all time, one of the best runs in the last 10 years, and it’s “solid for a college athlete”? Tough crowd....which is why I ask your PRs. What otherworldly standard are you trying to hold these athletes to?
A 27 second PR, collegiate leader, positioning the kid for top 10 finish (or better) at the trials is an outstanding result. And he is certainly on the shortlist of runners who can be considered 1) capable of going sub 27:30 and 2) quite fit at this time. Sounds like a contender to anyone with reason. Is it an outside shot? Sure. Is he dreaming about making it, with a far more realistic chance than most? You bet your ass he is.
Klecker just ran a time that would have been sniffing the AR before Meb. It’s damn fasssssstttt bro. His Strava lets you know just how proud he is. So why hating in your comment?
You’re missing the point: you’re a card carrying member of the no fun brigade. Try some positivity on for size, you might like it!
