Shaming as a solution to societal level problems is naïve at best. You said it yourself. Obesity was destigmatized after it was "out of control." Wait, wasn't there a stigma? How did we get so obese with obesity being stigmatized? If shaming worked, shouldn't we be much skinnier? Did we not shame enough?
I don't know a dumber idea than fat shaming. Being fat only shows that you like some sort of calorically dense food. This is simply an evolutionary malfunction. It's not some reflection of weakness. Some of the best people I know are obese. It's clearly not a character defining trait so shaming someone for it is beyond stupid. Some people just need someone to look down on I guess?
Assuming the method that has worked for humanity for thousands of years is "naive" is naive...
All those great people you know who are obese are going to die early because of their obesity. Sparing their feelings and lying to them doesn't make you a good person.
Obesity kills you. Period.
The method “worked” right up until we started consuming a lot more sugar and then suddenly it stopped working. Seems like it wasn’t doing as much as you think it was and the rate of obesity is dependent largely on other factors.
We did a lot of things for thousands of years that could be considered naive. Our understanding of medicine, for example. Your argument of “this is how we’ve done it so it’s definitely the best way to do it” is silly stuff. That’s what oligarchs said before we invented democracy.
Fat people are aware of the health consequences. I don’t need to “lie to them.” How often are you bringing up other peoples weight in conversation?
Your ideas on humanity are really strange to me. You look down on people of different races. You look down on fat people. You look down on queer people. It’s like you only accept one type of human as “correct.” It’s completely un-American and uninspiring. People want and believe that everyone can thrive, or that we can enable more people to thrive. They don’t want to cull the weaklings stealing our hard earned tax dollars. That’s why you’ll lose. What our actions say about us is just as important as the outcome of those actions and an ultra competitive no safety net no universal healthcare system says about us is that we lack compassion for each other.
Just remember that the guys about to take over the Congress of the United States of America are members of the political party that presides over the poorest, least healthy, least educated, emptiest and least economically vibrant parts of the nation. The parts few people want to live in.
Uh, what?
Large cities and mostly blue states have seen the largest decrease in population, and red or mostly states (specifically Texas, Florida and Arizona) have seen the largest increase in population... so I'd readily question your suggestion that people don't want to live in republican controlled areas rather than democrat controlled.
Finally! Good god, son. You did say “where we are today” so it is logical to assume it was more than just your conclusion.
Have you contacted the Jan 6 committee with this information? I would think it would be of great importance to them. attempted murder or conspiracy to commit murder of a sitting VP would be very damning to Trump and something Americans should know about. Do you agree?❓❓❓❓
Your logic is quite strained.
I said this is "where we are today" because I was laying out the facts as we know them today. I also gave my interpretation of the facts.
I do believe that Trump is guilty of attempted murder. But I also do not believe that it can be proven in court. So the DOJ is unlikely to take action on attempted murder.
You also seem to believe that Trump could be guilty of attempted murder. You have said nothing to rebut my assertion, which means you are in tacit agreement.
A couple of things here.
1) So this is a fact now, not an opinion? “That's when Trump sent his tweet instructing the militia to kill him.” Or is that your interpretation of where WE are?
2) What did Trump mean in his tweet 14 minutes later where he said something like “stay peaceful”. Was there a hidden meaning in that tweet also? ❓❓❓❓
3) ....more than a couple. 😉 Have you taken your findings to the Jan 6 committee? if not, why not. They appear to be very obvious (to you) attempts by a sitting president to murder the VP. That’s significant, no? ❓❓❓❓
Top 5 places people are fleeing from: 5 blue states including Hawaii and California.
Liberals are so AWFUL to be around people are literally leaving paradise to get away from them.
yeah it's true that the wealth of the blue areas has forced out lower achievers to places where lower achievers can have a better quality of life. It's hard to compete with all the brainpower and work ethic of the blue areas. Going to lower achieving poorer areas is the inevitable result.
Again, might want to check your bias on this one agip ...
It was a political demonstration. Very much inspired by the March on Rome. Trump is/was angling for 2024 and wanted to capture a moment. His supporters did a good job hitting a middle ground between full blown violence and just a casual stroll through the capital. Not bad enough that republicans won’t be forced to defend it.
Pretty amazing how a bunch of people who didn't even know each other and didn't even attend Trump's rally managed to execute you're little tin foil hat theory perfectly...
I think for Trumps side, it was more of a happy accident. Not some big conspiracy.

That's the thing. They did know each other. We know with certainty that there was communication between Trump's people, the Proud Boys, and the Oath Keepers.
The reason the Proud Boys didn't attend the Trump rally is because, according to sworn testimony, they were busy circling the Capitol. Apparently, they were looking for the best location to begin their attack.
Also, they timed their attack to coincide with the crowd marching behind them from the Trump rally. At the very least, it appears they were tipped off that Trump was going to illegally direct the crowd to march on the Capitol.
I'm just trying to decide which was the lamer, less relevant comeback, "Jim Jones (CULT leader) was a leftist," OR, "How many primaries is Trump running in?"
Looks like a tossup.
It's relevant that you cult example was literally on your own side.
Trump isn't on any ballot. He's relevant only in your own mind.
People like YOU are desperately unpopular with American voters.
It's interesting. There's REAL stupidity, demonstrated by you (and others) daily on this thread.
And then there's FAKED stupidity, that you guys also like to practice for some bizarre reason, e.g., your comment above, "Trump isn't on any ballot. He's relevant only in your own mind."
Now, if your life - or even $10 - was on the line, you'd hesitate not one iota to correctly answer the question, "Is Donald Trump relevant in the U.S. right now?"
YET, you PRETEND that he isn't. Just SO f***** stupid.

Angry agip shows up just in time to try to divert attention away from agip’s asinine comments about people not wanting to live in red areas. 😂😂😂😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Go angry agip. 👍👍👍👍
The entire bottom 10 is blue other than purple Louisiana.
hah
keep telling yourself that.
then look at where GDP is created. it's in blue areas. As you well know but aren't intellectually honest enough to admit.
The Dems have governed over the rise of the US city over the last 30 years...crime has plunged, economic vibrancy has resulted, and wealth has spread.
Over those 30 years the Rs have governed over emptying out spaces, much poorer, less educated and falling ever more behind blue areas. Economic wastelands.
I have little doubt Rs will lead the country downward as they have led MS AL KY LA through poverty and ignorance and unhealthiness.
Crime dropped everywhere after the peak in the 90s. It had nothing to do with politics.
Crime spiked starting in 2020 with the Democrats defund the police movement and love affair with leftist DAs who prefer crime to law and order.
California was a red state for almost the entire 20th century up until Reagan left in 1975. California has been in decline since 1980 as it gets more blue.
New York was a purple state for the entire 20th century and voted for Reagan twice.
New York has been in decline for decades as it gets more blue.
New York and California were the #1 and 2 economies in the US long before they became blue states.
The fastest growing states are red states. You inherited great economies and you're destroying them while you strut around like a peacock thinking you had anything to do with their ascent.
The states with the fastest-growing economies have more people, more workers, and more business creation, contributing to greater incomes and GDP. To determine the states with the fastest-growing economies between
When someone talks about the years and expense involved in going to med school, do you understand that to include the years and expense they spent on getting an undergraduate degree--without which, in this country, it is essentially impossible to get a medical degree? I don't understand it that way, and I really doubt that the majority of Americans do. Certainly the several MDs in my family would disagree with your statement.
Similarly, when someone says, "My master's program is going to cost $27,000" [or whatever], s/he's ordinarily not including what the expenses for a bachelor's degree were.
Agreed. I think that the vast majority of people - approaching damn near 100%, I think - state it in terms of the additional time to get the Master's. And if you tell someone that it took you 5-6 years to get your Master's, be prepared for some strange/awkward looks !

1) It is a fact that Trump sent the tweet about Pence. It is opinion that Trump intended the tweet as an order to kill Pence. It is a fact that the mob interpreted the tweet as an order to kill Pence.
2) The tweet 14 minutes later was about being nice to the police. Note that the tweet did not tell anyone to leave the Capitol or to stop breaking the law. At that point, the militia was in control of Capitol and not the police.
We know at this point that Trump's staff had been begging him to tell everyone to leave the Capitol, but Trump refused. So this tweet about being nice to the police might have served two purposes. One was to appease his staff.
The other possible reason Trump might have sent this tweet was to appease any of the cops who might be on Trump's side. Any cops allied with Trump could be very helpful locating Pence, who Trump knew had fled the floor just minutes earlier.
3) I am not in possession of information that the committee doesn't already have.
You also seem to believe that Trump could be guilty of attempted murder. You have said nothing to rebut my assertion, which means you are in tacit agreement.

The obesity crisis is definitely a product of the food industry. You still have to make the decision to go out and buy new clothes rather than change your eating habits.
Young fat people don't seem to be at all aware of the consequences. The people saying there's nothing unhealthy about being obese clearly aren't aware of the consequences.
You don't bring up people's weight in conversation because it's rude. This is exactly why society has to send the message. Putting fat people on the cover of fitness magazines sends the wrong message. Pretending Lizzo isn't disgusting sends the wrong message. A healthy society praises the ideal and stigmatizes the negative.
I've never said anything that indicates I look down on any group of people but liberals.
America is a meritocracy. Your idea that everyone is equal and outcomes should be equal is absolutely unamerican.
America has always had a safety net. America used to be a conservative Christian nation. Study after study has shown that conservatives and Christians are much more generous and charitable than liberals. We only need a government safety net now because there's so many people like you running around who are only generous with other people's money.

First we had a little lesson in stupidity. Now we'll have one in insecurity AND stupidity:
Some of you guys are too insecure to admit more than "x" people disagree with you (even though you KNOW it's much, much greater than "x"). So, you PRETEND that it's x-y, because you're too insecure to handle the truth that many people disagree with you.
And what's that OTHER word I'm always helping you out with? Oh, that's right, PATHETIC.

100% objectively untrue/inaccurate. By a healthy fraction of 330 million. But yeah, you're close.

The Proud Boys didn't know what security would look like on January 6th. It stands to reason that they would do reconnaissance that morning to find the best location to begin their attack. And according to sworn testimony, that's exactly what they did.
They weren't there to attend the Trump rally. The Proud Boys were there to break into the Capitol and stop the electoral count. That much is known with certainty because some Proud Boys have already pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy.
Testimony and video evidence also shows that the Proud Boys waited to start their attack as the crowd was illegally marching toward the Capitol. They had about 250 Proud Boys in attendance. But that would not be enough to break through security without backup from the crowd.

Trump only seems like he's relevant to you because you have TDS and you consume media that is entirely run by other people with TDS.
Normal people have moved on.
More people want him to stay gone than want him to run in 2024.
This is the reality no matter how much you stomp your little feet and cry about it.
