oh, and I wouldnt friend Kip's 'brother' on FB with your real FB IF. It just occured to me that he could have set that up partly to gather personal information to try to dig up dirt - ie: the comment made earlier.

At Deadwood -- different caps, different socks, different shirts & different shoes. So is Mr. Litton 1 person or 2 on this day? If he's really flying solo, why then would he change his race day apparel? Remember, this is a point-to-point marathon course.

First, let's give it up for the 586!!!!!
I can appreciate your frustration, but remember the context in which the statement was made: an anonymous poster has alleged that another anonymous poster is a registered sex offender. While reckless and inflammatory, it wouldn't get anyone in "trouble" per se, and is likely just some dope trying to create some controversy on this novel of a thread.
No names were mentioned specifically, and we don't know for certain who the poster of the original comment was either, so it's speculation that it's KL. Presuming simply for the sake of argument that the poster is correct and that there is a registered sex offender on these boards, there's nothing wrong with that statement. It's public information and can easily be confirmed on a database (at least in Michigan
http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us/). So, if a thread appears stating "Joe Schmoe is a registered sex offender" and it's factually correct, not much you can do.

Who is this person? I thought the brother in question was Kurt Nicholson Litton of Grand Blanc, MI.

Ok Kip name names and deeds.
Back to the brothers theory, am I correct in thinking that people are saying that the lack of mid race photos is explained by there being two of them?
I struggle with this.
I can't see the brothers doing it unless there is two chips. I can see the brother helping in driving a car or whatever, but there is no reason for him to be on the race course. If Kip can make it to the mat, there is no reason for a handoff on the chip.
As for the sex offender thing, that Beagle I was with was 18 in dog years... Why you gotta pick on this squeaky toy!
My bad. Posted wrong Litton link....

That's why I want more info on how to clone a chip or B-Tag. At VCM it is not practical to drive a car from mile 13.1 to mile 20 and make it in the time that chip moved between those points, at the time of day Kip would have been doing that. Has to do with road closures around the city and the natural bottlenecks that occur due to the way our course is laid out. A few years ago our Executive Director was at the 13.1 mark at approximately the same time Kip's chip was in 2010. She was driving a race vehicle with a Course Pass sign on the dash. It took her over 1:15 to get to downtown, which is less than half the distance Kip went to get to mile 20.
From what I've read on this thread, it looks like a bunch of jealous 4:30 marathoners are conducting a witch hunt here.
Look, the guy has run times as fast or faster than the ones that are being disputed. It is not as though he is jumping down to 2:20 from 3:20.
He definitely has NOT run times that are faster than the ones being disputed!
Also, for the last time, if it's TRUE it's not LIBELOUS.
Can't you just feel Kip getting desperate.
Keep on him Letsrunners. Endgame is near
This reminds me of that Monk episode where Mr. Monk couldn't figure out how the marathoner was able to murder someone and cross the mats.
The hills have eyes in Montana, Litton. The elk fed and brain dead are just chomping at the bit for you to toe the line in the finest little marathon west of the rockies.
Have a good day, sir.

Dude, you are hilarious.
Thinking about the bib. I, too, attach my bib to my shorts, but knowing that it is meant to be displayed, I always tack it down low and off to the side (on one leg).
The "reveal" gesture is so... studied, as if he is *trying* to be all natural-like...
BTW: comparing the photo pairs: I am now a devotee of the Two-Runner Theory (I am guessing that Kip starts/finishes but there are two hand-offs in the middle, i.e., to an accomplice and then back to Kip). This means two runners but (less than) half the distance.
Has anyone compared the RE-appearance of any particular shoe/short combo? Then compared the pics. It really DOES look like two different ppl.

But in order to just hit all the mats to make a result look legit and not raise suspicions of an RD, there is zero reason why the accomplice would need to look like Kip.
Fine, so why all the emphasis on the whole lookalike thing which people are now pretending was never said? Also why the backtracking about "we never said he always used an accomplice"?
As soon as someone involves anyone else in something nefarious, the problems multiply and once again what does an accomplice have to gain? I just don't buy the "Ooh it'll be fun like when we were kids" reasoning. Way back in the thread someone jokingly said they were an elite marathoner who anticipates being well paid by Kip to run as him, personally I find that just as credible.
I can imagine Kip hearing about the cheating twin thing at Comrades, and then wanting to prove to his twisted little self he was genius enough to pull something like that off succesfully.
Surely he would be a fascinated student of such things.
Why do you think im Kip? As far as I know, for 2009 and most of 2010, Kip's reputation in his local community and the online community was at least fair to excellent - there was an article written about him in the local Flint Michigan newspaper in 2010 praising his running accomplishments. You think Kip wanted anyone to know about the cheating? While it's true that Kip got DQed at a local Michigan race years ago,I think his reputation was still pretty solid at this point, besides perhaps a few folks in the Michigan running community. my SOKLR blog showed many of the accomplishments in the 2010 Flint newspaper article were false results, so why do you think I'd be Kip? That's pretty amazing if you think I'm kip and I(kip) planned such an elaborate 3-4yr trolling scheme.
If you talk to roadrace directors, cheating in races is not all that uncommon, especially for something like qualifying for Boston. In late 2010 Kip talked on his facebook wall about how he drafted off Chuck Engle at providence marathon when we knew this wasn't true because of kip's large chip/gun differential and Chuck having a miniscule differential. It's things like this that make me think Kip's motivation was to feel like he's great at running. The truth is he is probably capable of being a great legit age group runner, so he shouldn't feel the need to beat the system just so he can show he's something more to others.
As for why I operate using a hotmail email address, I don't want to reveal my identity to the public. I control the SOKLR blog - I've placed my contact info
on the front page so if anyone wants to give me more information to either add to the blog OR for me to simply forward to the national writer, feel free to send. Other options if you want to send information to the national writer- you may email Scott Hubbard
or
. We're a team from across the USA. Ouch being Montana, Scott in Michigan, myself in the Northeast. There are a few others as well including race directors spread out across the USA. I've never met any of these guys in person, but this story has connected people across the country. It's pretty amazing the way the dots connected. It's also great for my blog that we have this anonymous non-registration system at letsrun - sure there have been a lot of useless posts and trolling, but quite a number of anonymous folks through some suggestion/brainstorming/speculation/detective work, etc. helped us uncover some things here that no one else could see.
Doubler - I am not as versed on the timelines of all the marathons as many here. I believe the look-alike is not neccesary, but helpful if he was looking to 'prove' he ran a whole marathon. I personally never gave credibility to the twin brother thing..but it got me thinking about the accomplice.
And the more I think about it..I think it is possible that he got a duplicate chip by conning his way to pick up two packets or claim a lost chip, or whatever. This may not work everytime if they deactivated the first chip or whatever..hence the missed mats.
But, its all just theories.
JOKM,
You're full of sh+t. Most letsrunners come from a competitive running background and are fairly intelligent when it comes to training.None of us have marathon PRs anywhere near as slow as 4hrs. And even when kip cheats, his times are slower than the lifetime PRs of almost all of the letsrun posters I know who post here.
Has anyone seen Kip in person to know if that orange mop is his real hair? Why does he wear a hat and a bandana on his head all the time at races?
