Just rewatched Hocker’s finish. My goodness that was impressive. From 2 meters back to 3 meters in front in the span of 3 seconds. If I’m Nuguse I don’t know what my strategy would be for the final.
Run 3:30.xx and be out-of-reach. Hocker and Kessler can out kick him at anything 3:32 and slower.

Blast from the start. Another 34 low (effectively a fresh legs diamond league 30) holds off anyone but Cole and Hobbs. Those three have the same strategic interest to make it as fast as possible every lap. Everyone else should have the opposite interest. Best way to do that would be to take turns up front and hitting the brakes a-la Chelimo last night. That takes collective work, similar to taking pulls in a cycling breakaway, and is tough to organize.

Idk if you've seen the 2020 indoor 3000 at ncaas but, it's hard to run away from Hocker. He is just so fast if he is anywhere near you.
You have to be out-of-reach like in the Olympic Final in 2021. He caught everybody close for his 6th. There are maybe 5 runners in the world that can be out-of-reach of him.
