Heat Sheets are out for the Section Championships this week. It's crazy how good Section 2AAA and 6AAA are in the distance races. 2AAA has Sutter, Vos, Fries, Stuwe and Hootie while 6AAA has Weber, Kissel, Scott, Herring, Just, and Haerter. Those 2 Sections are loaded. We could see 5 state qualifiers coming from both of those sections.

Lots of doubling up in the 1600 & 3200 too, even for deep teams. Like Vos & Fries for Minnetonka and Weber & Kissell for Wayzata. 2AAA boys 3200 has lots of 8th and 9th graders. Wayzata has many sub-10 guys that don’t get to race sections at all.

Yes, much easier to double up when the 1600 and 3200 are run on separate days. They essentially get 48 hours of rest between events at both Sections and State.
A total of 6 automatic qualifiers coming out of 6AAA, very impressive. Haerter has been running great lately. He won the 1600 at True Team State and now just crushed his PR in the 3200 with a 9:12. Great race by Scott, he looked like he was in control the whole time.
What are the state qualifying standards in the 1600 and 3200?
4:20 for 1600 and 9:22 for 3200 at AAA
Have they lowered the standard for auto Q? Last I knew it was average of 5th place at the state meet over the last X number of years... Always seemed a bit harsh and only being able to run it at sections was also a bit absurd. This was years ago however....

Back in 2017, the XC state champ didn’t qualify for the state meet in the 3200 even though he ran a 9:13 at sections. Someone made the petition to let him run at the state meet.
It's now the average 9th place finish with a limit on how much it can change per year, so that even if there is a super fast or super slow year it can't change too much. I think it makes sense to prevent kids who, on average, would score at the state meet from missing.
2aaa boys Sutter - 9:07 Stuwe - 9:13 Fries - 9:18 Vos - 9:20 Hage - 9:22 Donaldson - 9:26
Minnetonka went 1&2 in the girls 3200. Long from Chanhassen 3rd
Very impressive times, similar to 6AAA with many automatic qualifiers. The gap between the top 6 runners and the 7th place finisher was nearly 40 seconds. A total of 5 runners qualify from the section with Hootie getting under the time by 2 tenths of a second. Stuwe taking 2nd and beating Fries is very impressive, I'm not sure Fries has ever lost a race to MN runner in the same grade as him, but he was likely just working on qualifying and he accomplished that.

Vos just missed the qualifier and didn't look like he leaned much at the end.
Vos qualified for state. The qualifying standard was 9:22.37 so his time of 9:20 made it by 2 seconds, which is likely why he wasn't "leaning" at the line. He ran a smart race and accomplished what he set out to do.

On this page, it says “State Qualifier” next to Sutter, Fries, and Stuwe, but not next to Vos or Hage. Which doesn’t make any sense because it says that 9:22.37 is the time qual according to the link that you posted
