Wasn't Barrett ill at NXR/NXN? Based on Manhattan and other races, I assume he would have been top 10-15 in 2023 if healthy.
you can't just say people "deserve" to be top 10, top 15. The competition was better than ever. The place you got, has the final say.
I heard in an interview that Barrett was ill (he wasn’t #1 on the team at NXR and NXN). Many predicted him to challenge for a top 10 spot at NXN, but it was gonna be tough.
It’s also worth noting that last year the NXN conditions were different than other meets. The NXN performance depends on how well people fare in those types of conditions
Many know that Valor Christian received a new head coach in 2022, but I heard he’s gone now. Unless they get a really good new head coach, their chances of going to NXN aren’t that high.
They were junior-heavy last year but they are losing their #1 (Eike).
Valor XC is a sh*tshow. Complete mess over there. Sad to see how they have fallen on the team level (Eike is still a phenom). Their girls team has gone from NXN caliber to just Brooke Wilson (2nd NXN) to just 5ish serious members in a short time. Boys have a shot if they can run as a pack to avg 15:40s at NXR.

One of the Valor girls (Edwards) transferred to Mountain Vista. This team took third at NXN without her or any seniors. They might be able to beat Air Academy at NXN and win it. Air Academy is losing their #1 (Michalak).
Yeah vista is legit. Odds are it’ll be a 1-2 for vista and niwot at NXN. I’ve also heard that niwot is moving up to 5A? They will race at state as well if true which will be exciting.

I don't wanna be rude, but this forum specifically talks about the guys. If you wanna talk about Leachman and Ritzenhein, then go make a different thread called NXN 2024 - The Way Too Early Preview - GIRLS

hey as*shole. If people want to talk about girls cross country on here, I want to hear about it
on the Idaho track thread, the coach of a Letsrun famous team is taking shots at CDA under an anonymous profile. Someone is a little upset that CDA stole his thunder.

This has honestly been insane to watch unfold over the last two days.
The coaching staff didn't get up with their team to collect the second place trophy at state, either. They sat in the crowd throwing a fit.
5 guys between 9:40 and 9:44, 7 under 9:45 for 3k. Only 2 are juniors, rest are freshmen and sophomores. This doesn’t include any of their top 3 that are all returning.

Good for early season, but they'll need faster to break into NXR NW top 3. For 3200, Franklin returns 9:29, 9:31, 10:13, 10:20, 10:22, 10:25, 10:28, 10:28, 10:28
Deep for sure, but CDA just simply runs much faster, and the team that shall not be named would have similar depth if they were sea level too. Not to mention Jesuit has similar depth with faster frontrunners, and Crater, like CDA, just will run faster at 1-5 spots

Citing 3200 times when they rarely race it is a bad faith argument. Their 3k times converted to 3200 are 9:08, 9:25, 9:25, 10:13, 10:20, 10:27, 10:27, 10:27. The top 3 marks are from last year. Even with generous altitude conversions, they are way faster 1-3 than Rocky is, and the 10:13 is a frosh. The chances he drops tons of time from just racing more and not even getting more fit is huge.
The question with Franklin was if they could find a new 4 and 5. They now have 5 pretty decent developmental pieces, most of which are young. Besides, they still put 3 returners in front of Rocky’s #2 returner at NXR.
