For anyone looking to get into collegiate coaching or stay in coaching, you need to accept one fundamental reality of our profession & sport at the NCAA level. The people in charge of it - signing our checks - do not give two donkey d!cking fvcks about it. All they care about is someone who will make their job easier…& their job description has nothing to do with “a competitively successful cross country and track program.” Nothing. Ok, maybe half a dozen P2 AD’s care because they don’t know what else to do with a loose few million and don’t want to be embarrassed when that amount of money is still going into a program….the rest only want problems to stay off their desk. That’s it. That’s your job. If you can’t accept it, get out. But if you can make your peace with this fact, everything else will make so much more sense and your quality of life will be faaaar better. Until of course you look at that paycheck & also realize one unhappy overly-privileged 18 year old girl can end your career with one bad mood of course…
And you are?
You're not a runner.
You're not a coach.
And I feel sorry for anyone you coach.
