After every regional, Jonathan Gault will be running Bo Waggoner's program to see who is in and out. He'll post the results on the live blog on the front page: https://www.letsrun.com/events...
I read something in a thread yesterday that mentioned Valby is considering the 1500, steeple, and the 10000 this upcoming track season. I looked for the thread but couldn't find it. It may have been a thread from the creeper dude that is obsessed with her and always talks about her tan and "valbymania."
I see her as a good candidate for the 10000 and possibly the steeplechase. I just don't see her as a strong 1500 runner. She doesn't seem to have that top end speed or the ability to change gears that is required to run the 1500 well. I think she would do really well at the 10.
I think (sensibly) working on the speed of the 1500m can not hurt. The steeple is a wildcard; she would have Thorner as a training partner in it.
I wonder if her legs could handle all of the hard landings in a steeple? Totally agree on working on speed even if not strongest event. But she could really wear down the field in a 10K I suspect.
But Florida’s 5th, Wilson, had a big step up today.
Fl does look solid if not great at 4/5. the question is how strong at 2/3. Asekol looking less like top 20 than top 30 to me. Mazza-Downie coming back but to what level? I still think they are in the mix for 3rd or 4th at nationals.

There is no way she will ever run the steeple. One step off that water jump and her body will fall apart. No way will she ever do that.
Now, the 10,000? Yep.
I’ve warmed up to the idea more, since the time somebody suggested it on the forum last week. But after she mentioned it in the interview, I’ve reconsidered. This Outdoors may be the time to explore it. Maybe someone (sponsor?) has already seen something.

On one hand, I thought she needs to totally focus on the 5k to have any shot at the ‘24 Trials. She said it would be tough to make that team. Then I looked at team prospects (as well as collegiate prospects) in the steeple. If their is a talent there we are not yet aware of, that might be an easier team to make (said without looking up the q standard).

…and planted a bug in her ear. I’ll post a link to the interview if it doesn’t get the thread deleted.
