Race wins yes, but WRs NO WAY!! Name me one female or male athlete who got married and had kids and broke the WR? There is none on earth.......pls
Jakob has been with Elisabeth since he was a teenager. But now he's gonna have some ceremony, sign a piece of paper and POOF there goes all the talent. Who knew? You have sh*t for brains.
Well I'm pretty fine, I'm a bit stressed about work and in addition I have done some work on my house lately which have added on to it. Being tired from that makes it hard not to react to what I see as obsessive and unreasonable hate. Thankfully I have reached some milestones with the house, and hope to do the same on my day job which might lower my stress and help me just overlook stuff like that.
What about you? One thing is to be an obsessive fan (that is not a new thing in sports), but I think being an obsessive hater is something else. While I enjoy following Jakobs career, and most probably should spend less time discussing him in here, it is something that gives me a lot of inspiration and motivation as well as entertaining and thrilling moments. While I felt down when he was beaten by Kerr, that feeling kind of went away the same evening which was a sign for me that I am at a pretty healthy level. (Kerr was in great shape when he needed to, Ingebrigtsen was not.) What I mean to say is that I feel that is giving me a net positive in life. I cannot imagine that it would bring me a net positive in life if I dedicated so much time to hate individual athletes.
Over time I think it is such an accelerating force as well, as I would believe one would judge everything the athletes say in the worst way possible (Ingebrigtsen saying he felt a bit ill but that it shouldn't be an excuse for the loss is turned around to him blaming everything on a sickness that must be a lie for example, another one is Ingebrigtsen saying the 2000m record was the easiest record for him to take, the lowest hanging fruit, - which most seem to agree - yet its turned around to him being cocky) and having complete unreasonable standards. Like Ingebrigtsen being a serial looser as he only have two WC silvers in the 1500. Like it or not, this is a guy that has two WC silvers in the 1500, one olympic gold in the 1500 and two wc golds in the 5000, at 22. Who knows, he can be injured tomorrow, but he is pretty good, and those results speaks for themselves.
The outcome of this seems to me to just be a downward spiral of hate. I can't imagine that is worth following along to, there are so many other athletes, other disciplines or even other sports to follow where it is possible to gain joy instead of hate. Dont misunderstand me, a bit of "hate" is just natural in sports. I don't like it when some americans in here always prop up their runners to be medal contenders as I think its not beneficial for the runners and disrespectful for others, but on the other hand I have to be reasonable and acknowledge some of the great athletes such as Fisher and Nuguse. That balance - seeing more than black and white, while also being able to focus on something else than just "hating" makes it turn from something possibly unhealthy to normal.
Being obsessed with almost exclusively bad talking and hating on an athlete doesn't seem that beneficial.
I admire Ingebrigtsen as much as I admired Armstrong. But then, it is apparent, so do you.
I don't understand what you mean by that to be honest. Anyways, take care. These athletes and their achievements are not worth anything if they dont bring any joy, inspiration, excitement or any other good influence to our lives.

You're reasoning with someone who is at least two SDs below the average on the Bell curve. It doesn't work.
Ok point noted. However I had mentioned about 10 posts or so earlier that marital union between a man and woman affects slower speeds like marathons and ultra-marathons to a lesser extent than those that require more speed like 1500m, 800m, 5000m, 10000m etc. So I apologize to you for I should have rephrased my question to be: name me one athlete at the 800m-10000m events who has gotten married and broken one of these WRs!

Look, the physical and biochemical field interactions between married partners is different from dating ones. There is an energy barrier that needs to be overcome as marital union and married life is a few levels of morality and moral commitment deeper than dating ones. There is also the energy of inducing a baby which requires mental, emotional, sexual, physical effort and commitment which basically CARVES an energetic void in both the husband and wife respectively. Both the husband and wife needs to sacrifice a part or piece of themselves to form the baby, and then continually sacrifice further parts and pieces of themselves to maintain and nourish the baby in good stead and health. Simple physics, not rocket science here. Jakob is unlikely to break the WR for 1500m and mile next year if he got married this year. If anyone of you really cares about the 1500m and mile WRs you should immediately contact Jakob to tell him to call off the wedding for at least another year! He isn't breaking no WR if he gives a part of himself to his baby and Elizabeth duh! Again simple Physics....
Marriage is a sacrifice on all levels, just ask your mum and dad duh, but an honorable sacrifice nonetheless.

Jakob is not the greatest md runner of all time and may never be. He holds no world records at a championship distance - not the 1500/mile, 5k/10k. He may never. He has yet to win a world championship title over his specialty distance. He may never. All these feats have been accomplished by the great md runners before him - and latterly El G.
The Mile is not a championship distance.
Coe was not a great 800m runner
Cruz was not a great 800m runner
Kipketer was not a great 800m runner
Snell was not a great 1500m runner
Keino was not a great 1500m runner
Ryun was not a great 1500m runner
Bayi was not a great 1500m runner
Walker was not a great 1500m runner
Ovett was not a great 1500m runner
Cram was not a great 1500m runner
Aouita was not a great 1500m runner
Kiptanui was not a great steepler
Tergat was not a great long distance runner
Kiprop was not a great 1500m runner
Powell was not a great long jumper
Pedroso was not a great long jumper
C. Taylor was not a great triple jumper
Barzhim is not a great high jumper
The mile was a championship distance long before you were born or educated. It is part of the tradition of the sport that you know nothing about. In the English-speaking world imperial distances were the norm until the late '60's.
But she runs marathons? I'm more inclined to close an eye for marathon WRs. But Faith Kipyegon has got to be doped as hell since she runs the 1500m and 5000m. I can't imagine Genzebe Dibaba breaking her 1500m record after getting married. I think I discovered a new paradigm of doping that's exclusively the club of married runners!
Look if I was a fanboy I would be an EL G fanboy, not Jakob one. And the reason because I'm actually the fanboy of antiquity and traditional conservative styles and ethics. El G just happens to fit into that antiquated and conservative mold otherwise I wouldn't be an EL G fan. I subscribe not to an object like El G, but to a far more abstract subject such as morality from where I base my decisions and judgements. I know it's subjective, but full objectivity is also impossible and highly constrained in this case of determining who is a doper. You can only have true objectivity at the end of space and time which is the end of the world. Only when it's over and done with can you really do objective analysis. But that's still impossible as when the end of the world comes we would all be dead anyway so unable to undertake any objective analysis. Earth wouldn't even exist much less gravity, so you will be in no physical condition to think, breathe and function anyway.
Okay to cut the long story short, you don't need to trust me but this is my holistic assessment that none of these 2 athletes ever doped.
It isn't an assessment. It is nothing more than an assertion, with nothing offered to support it.
With Ingebrigtsen and Kipyegon you simply see what you want to see. What you don't want to see - and leaps out with their performances - is they are both absolutely juiced to the gills. There is no way they can do what they do without it.
What a ridiculous post Armstrong. The reasoning of Khamis is worthless of course, Jakobs or others body language means nothing, but Jakob doped to the gills? Highly unlikely. If anything the only thing I believe he or others like him could do is "abuse" the gray area of asthma medicine.
Jakob is doped to the gills because that's what it takes to beat doped records by supremely talented athletes. There is no other way he could do it.
Everything is simple to a simpleton. You entire "theory" (vomit more like) has been eradicated with 10 counterexamples within a few hours. Now it's time for you to go home devastated and shut your f*cking mouth for one second.
With Ingebrigtsen and Kipyegon you simply see what you want to see. What you don't want to see - and leaps out with their performances - is they are both absolutely juiced to the gills. There is no way they can do what they do without it.
But Ingebrigtsen is - according to you - not any special. Good, OK, but not great. If Ingebrigtsen must be a doper, what about Wightman and Kerr?
No one gets a free pass at the top. But Ingebrigtsen is doped without a doubt, along with many of his competitors. It is the way the sport has been for several decades now. No record today will be clean. The reason for that is two-fold: only doping will enable an athlete to be faster than any other athlete in the history of the sport, and dopers who know what they are doing won't be caught.
As a thinker and intellectual, I don't resort to bad vibes or rude gestures, instead I simply make slight adjustments to the still generally correct theory that married athletes in the events 800m to 10000m do not or don't tend to break WRs after getting married. Who says that 10 counterexamples should spoil a potentially good theory if there might be disproportionate 1,000 positive examples of the theory?
Now the onus is on you to show me 990 more world class elite level athletes at 800m-10000m who could truly eradicate the theory for good.
