His body puts on weight easily because he is constantly in starvation mode. After NYC, he got much larger very quickly. His face really puffs up. He’s gotten himself into quite a negative cycle.
Haha. So he's getting fat because he's too skinny?

Yes actually. You ever watch Survivor? They starve all season and get all skinny by the last episode, then they have the reunion where they announce the winner and suddenly they're all chubby on stage. When they got off the island and were finally able to eat like normal again their bodies were like "Oh man gotta store all this fat away so I'm ready to deal with all this starvation!" Seth is like that, except even more extreme since he's been starving and overexerting himself consistently for so long now.
For a guy who gets off sexually watching his wife eat, it's weird that he himself has such poor eating habits. You'd think he'd love food too if it's so closely tied to one of his kinks.

Thats the key part of his kink. He is starving&suffering while she is stuffing herself in front of him. Basically BDSM.
He thinks eating nothing and denying any personal enjoyment (see the alcohol ban) is the way to improvement instead of say crazy things like more speed work.
It’s like over here is a tried and tested way of doing something that is proven to get results but no, the way I’ll go is to not do that and hopefully reach the same point by having one square of chocolate for dessert instead and referring to this approach as being a mad scientist.
SJD has completely wrecked his metabolism. Once he stops turning the knob due to major injury or age, he is going to balloon. I've seen it happen dozens of times to men and women that ran years of high mileage and watched portions to maintain that fine edge. Once they cut back to hobby jogger mileage volumes or just quit cold turkey, they got pudged out in a hurry. Most put on 20 pounds or more within six months. The high stress spartan lifestyle just destroys your metabolic and endocrine functions.
"Ayooohhh! C'mon, now! Butter that bread and serve it on a 20 kilo plate, DGL (DeMoor Global Lifting) fam-a-lee!!! Todayyyyyyy is the day I'm gonna' dead lift five hundy and, and, immediately run a sub FIIIIIIVE minute mile in the parking lot at CRUNCH! in Broomfield! I told my kids, I told my kids and True Love that if Daddy got a quarter ton up to his waist and locked out plus clocked a 4:57, then we would all get some Andy's. OK, I got my Vaporflys. I got my weight belt. I've got my rattiest running shorts on and a headlamp around my neck. You know what's comin' next! LET'S GOOOOOOO!!!"

All you guys are nailing this and it's hitting too close to home. This happened to me after my last marathon block lol. :( I took a couple months off and went from having a six pack to a blubber belly in what seemed like no time. I've been back at it the last three months and still haven't worked it off. I'm the same age as Seth and everything (mid 30's) and can totally believe this is why he looks so puffy lately. Metabolism already way slower than it was in the 20's, and like you said, high mileage plus trying to watch your weight will catch up with you. I'm not gonna pretend like I wasn't trying to keep that edge, but I learned my lesson. Which is why I'm still working it off, because I'm not starving myself to get there.
Also side note, I think he needs to wear more sunscreen. Every day I run past these old leathery shirtless dudes still out there gettin it. Even though I hate the greasy pore clogging feeling of sunscreen, I just think of those guys and that gets me to put it on. I think Seth's face has been looking at bit scraggly lately. He's out in the sun hours each day, and he's whiter than I am. Guy needs to take care of himself. Seems like he has lots of resources and lots of free time, so no excuse.
Joseph and the better Demoor runner flies the “W” at the Leadville Heavy Half Marathon in a blistering 1:52:03. I’m sure that he bounded to a “W” in super shoe, so the Let’s Run snobs will discount the “W”.
No reason why anyone here should have a problem with Joseph. He's not the one with the youtube channel preaching bad advice and blindly leading the blind.
He needs to be a better hype man for his bro. Like if he’s got a big race coming up give him some more footy. It’s not like he couldn’t do away with some cupboard openings and garage scenes to give his bro some love. It’s like he’s low key jelly of anyone doing good other than him.

"denying any personal enjoyment".
I don't think you really meant it, but unintentionally this might be the good insight into the Seth's world.
It is not about running. Never was.
Dude has some serious issues going on. I'm posting basic info about the idea of sublimation. It's sort of under control now, but long term, it looks no good at all.
Sublimation is one way that the ego reduces the anxiety that can be created by unacceptable urges or feelings. Sublimation works by channeling negative and unacceptable impulses into behaviors that are positive and socially acceptable.
Are we witnessing the beginning of a sad family story? I hope I'm wrong. Anyway, it's my last post in this thread.

Especially considering the channel is all about the the DGR Family .....

Yes i watched it, im interested in the sc pacers - the new 1400?
I think he cracked the plate when he was doing his little bendy test. I forget what shoe it was, but I definitely remember him snapping another carbon shoe on camera before too. Not like it matters to him. It's just going in the giant pile with the rest of the shoes he'll never wear again. What a waste.
That was a classic Seth review. Gives it 7/10 which is a bad score apparently, didn't like the shoe but also says would race in it and will keep running in it despite saying other shoes would be better for a race and what a battle it was to get to 50 miles because the shoe was not great.
Then tops it off with a comment of the day that starts "this was one of my favourite blogs". Basically if you want comment of the day, tell Seth how great his videos are and how they changed your life.
We've updated our BetterRunningShoes.com web site to make it easier to find good deals on the best shoes. To keep it great we need new shoe reviews from you.
