I've watched Japanese and Canadian marathons - their coverage is SO much better. Show the total running time, show the total running distance, show the ongoing mile splits, 5K times and show a graph with the elevation changes. Even if the networks want to play to the lowest common denominator guy sitting on couch eating Doritos, which is what they're doing, they could still have more info on the screen. It's a shame that the casual viewer doesn't learn anything about marathon running by watching this crap. They have no idea of the inside game or what's going on in the race.
