Exactly. Just like Katir. Whatever they're on (and stopped taking pre Tokyo) only lasts a week :)

I would’ve thought Hassan would try something different after doing that same exact thing in Monaco and losing
I don't think she would outkick Kipyegon in a slow race. Plus, her training has been geared toward her being able to win the 10k, too, which usually robs speed. So, her best shot was probably just to run hard from the start.
I'm as pleased that Muir got silver as I am that Hasan didn't win gold
great stuff!

Agreed. But she was probably correct to assume that nobody else would go forward for sub 3:55 pace and at 4:00-04 pace it would remain crowded very long and Kipyegon would have an even better kick without too much exertion. Best for Hassan would have been someone like Tsegay volunteering to front run 3:55 pace.

American women running as if the race wasn't going to be sub 3:55 from the gun. If you wanted a medal, you needed to be at the front.
Gabby died a bit, but she went for it at least.
Kipyegon made sure Hassan knew she was right behind her that entire race lol
So happy for Muir. I'm glad she can shed tears of happiness today. Guts!
I wonder if BTC Burrito girl watched this final.
I’m not sure what was up with Purrier? She beat the Canadian pretty handily earlier this season and she was up there with a lap to go, but EP was a total non factor?
I keep thinking those judges in the javelin measurement area are going to get a spear through the gut. You have to be alert with that job!
Lol

Maybe Purrier should have raced some non Americans. Pathetic to think you are good because you can time trial and beat weak american fields.
What's your problem? I don't recall Purrier running around telling everyone, "Hey, I'm really really good!" I didn't see her on Space Jam promoting her brand. She is just a human running her best...in an Olympic final, while you watch on TV.
Have you ever run a race that was not your personal best? In hot, humid conditions? Was it some fault of your character? Should the race directors have chastised you afterward for daring to start the race if you weren't going to win?

Did no-one else see Chelimo take like 5 steps inside the rail on the back straight? No real advantage but still ...
USA women used to that 4:05 pace then kick the last lap. Quite literally and figuratively behind with the times.
Britain breaking their 1500m + 800m national records to win silvers in the Olympics is pretty impressive. Especially as all of their middle distance top times are pretty spaced out historically.
Massive if they pull something off in the 1500 mens now aswell.
Top 3 were all dopers in the women's 1500. Sad days
I really expected more from Purrier, maybe she just couldn't cope with the heat? She should have run with more guts like GDS who really went for it. Not sure GDS really had the ability to medal with this field but she sure ran like she wanted it. Fair play to her.

Could someone please give a link to a free stream so I can watch the 1500m?
Thank you!
Does she really look like someone who jumped off the couch in her pajamas? You think?
She not just looks like a gutty, gritty, wildly fast runner who ran a savvy race for an Olympic silver medal. That's what she is.

There wasn't a strategy that was going to beat Kipyegon today, especially after Hassan ran the 5K.
