In one sense, no—Lyles has gone faster than Norman’s 200 pb 6 times, 4 of those times with less wind, the 19.50 into a micro-headwind. Had he had Norman’s hurricane, he would have gone 19.3x
In the 100 I would venture to guess that his was done with less than half the wind. Lyles is faster.
BUT Norman’s race looks to have better 100m potential. Shorter stride but much better start and pickup. More of a power position means potentially greater vmax—all of which IMO would more than offset Lyles’ monster SE bloom.
So based on his results, I would say no...but based on how he runs, I would say yes, in the 100m—IF he trains, and especially if he ditches the 400.
If I honestly believed that I went 9.86 this early without a real 100 season, I would want to replicate it ASAP, probably twice. Or at least get close. If I did, then I would immediately ditch the 4 and go after Coleman.
The 400 is 4x as long as the 100, but means almost nothing in comparison.
