This is just a back-of-the-napkin comparison, with many flaws. You need to look at more comprehensive studies. And this article only follows the cars for three years. A three year comparison front-loads the upfront cost, which is typically higher for an EV.
When you go beyond three years, the gas car cost keeps climbing in comparison to the EV.
Gas cars depreciate faster than electric. So the longer you own it, the more it tilts in favor of the EV.
Gas cars tend to start breaking down more later in life. So the longer you own it, the more it tilts in favor of the EV.
With a longer time horizon, the difference in gas versus electricity continues to build and build. So the longer you own it, the more it tilts in favor of the EV.
Lastly, the comparison uses models that have both a gas and electric version. This is a terrible way to compare because these models were built as gas-powered then retrofitted to electric. A car that is designed to be an EV from the start will be a lot more efficient and trouble-free.
To be fair, your article does admit that I am right:
Plus, as the years progress the lower cost of operating an electric vehicle (fuel and maintenance) continue to accrue. In the case of the Mini, it might just tip the advantage to the electric model.

I have read that a two-tier system for EVs seems to be setting up....people can pay to use the fast chargers...or pay less use slower chargers at home.
Whether you use the fast chargers or slow chargers will make a significant difference on the economics of an EV.
Crime - UP. Grocery prices - UP. Gas prices - UP. Car prices - UP. Airfare - UP. Energy cost - UP. Baby Formula - Unavailable. There is not one single thing that is better now than when Trump was president.
sally you lose credibility when you make unsustainable claims.
take a minute, think it through and make a more balanced, truthful statement. I gave you some ideas. Maybe going from 3000+ covid deaths per day to today's 300 per day would be a start for you. but there are many ways for you to go on this.
Just trying to be helpful.
The kid who says Biden's economy is great lecturing people on unsustainable claims and credibility. LOL!

Jesus Christ....
hey you tell how a strong dollar, a c.3.5% unemployment rate, c.5.8% GDP growth and a rapidly falling deficit is bad. I'll wait.

LOL! You seem to be confused about what "as the years progress" and the word "might" means.
You're also missing the bit where the only way the EVs are a better option is with the $7500 government tax credit.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Even on your favorite subject... lol...
reminder of what life was like during the last time republicans had the White House. They punished whistleblowers in the military, for one.
here, the DOD finds that the trump white house improperly illegally punished an officer because of the officer' s whistleblowing.
You want that kind of DC behavior in your armed forces again, m'agas? fear of telling the truth? Hint: you don't. That's how russia got its garbage armed forces.
DoD:
We found, based on a preponderance of the evidence, that the Complainant was the subject of unfavorable personnel actions from administration officials, as defined by section 1034, title 10, United States Code (10U.S.C. § 1034), “Protected communications; prohibition of retaliatory personnel actions.”4 Furthermore, we concluded based on a preponderance of the evidence, that these actions would not have occurred or been withheld absent the Complainant’s protected communications.
The brother of Army officer Alexander “was the subject of unfavorable personnel actions” for his complaint about the ex-president’s “perfect call” with Zelensky, per the Pentagon.
But YOU are getting YOUR info from an unassailable source. Most everyone else is in the dark, just not you and Mike.
Of course, there are few if any reputable investigations going on at this point. And, of course, you and the other Trumpers have never begun to answer the simple question, Where oh where are ALL the Trumper DAs and prosecutors pursuing these investigations? If it's so clear, why aren't they all over it? And yet exactly zero might be? It's just Dinesh and Mike? All those Trumper lawyers are in the dark, too? Why would that be?
You MIGHT be a little mixed up about who's in a bubble, and who isn't. Your delusion really is mind-numbing.
You're a "conservative" who voted for Joe Biden and you think other people are mixed up? LOL!!
Yet again, zero explanation for why there's not a practicing R lawyer in this country going after the OBVIOUS and MASSIVE fraud......
We don't have 5.8% GDP growth, and we won't have anywhere close to that this year.
Last 4 quarters: 3.6%
Last 5 quarters (since Jan 2021): 4.0%
Last quarter: -1.4%
quickie quiz: hey who was president last year when we had that c5.8% GDP growth?
bonus question:
who was in control of congress?
I knew GDP growth would be strong in 2021 (as it was in late 2020) the minute the phase 3 trials of the pfizer vaccine were released. Didn't matter who was president.
It's fairly short-sighted for you to be crediting Joe with the economy given we may very well be in a recession soon. If we have weak growth (as currently forecasted) or a recession in the next 1-3 years how are you going to explain all that? Does Joenomics not work in 2022?

if a m'aga president had been in the WH during a year of 6% GDP growth the entire right wing political and media infrastructure would have been claiming that that president was a near god. but it was a democrat who did it, so it's 'eh it was inevitable.' You know this to be true.
the truth is in the middle. the basic Dem principle of giving money to people who need it...is the right one. The Rs would have jsut given more money to rich people again, which is less effective.
as for 2022...we'll see. There are a few small signs of slowdown but nothing major. The Fed thinks 2Q growth will come in at 2.5% annualized, which is fine. The Fed actually has seen growth strenghtening the last few weeks. The consumer is certainly roaring, and that suggests no recession.
His predictions are the stuff of ridicule here. He claimed that Russia would defeat the Ukraine in “five days, tops”. 😂😂😂
Well, to be fair, Putin did say almost exactly the same thing. And we all know that Putin is a genius.
(not sure if he is a very stable genius, though)
Moreover, the very stable genius ASSURED US from the podium in Helsinki that Putin is also honest (regarding US-determined 2016 election meddling).
"President Putin says it's not Russia. I don't see any reason why it would be."
Just like roughly half the posters here, gotta love inadvertent satire. "I don't have any reason to believe that the autocrat in charge of Russia would do something bad or lie about it" (!!!)
Like a SNL skit. But real. And 47% of our fellow citizens wanted 4 more years of it.

It's true that apartment dwellers have a disadvantage. It can be hard to find an apartment with the inexpensive 240 volt AC chargers. But I've done apartment hunting with my daughter and her EV twice now. Both times we have found a good charging solution without the need for the more expensive DC fast charging.
As EVs become more popular, more apartment buildings will add EV charging as an amenity. Many already do.

yeah remember when Adult said he believed putin when he said russia went to war primarily over nato expansion? Because adult trusts putin more than the US government.
Now that Finland and Sweden are joining NATO and Russia says 'eh we don't really care' Adult's naive character is seen clear. So gullible.

"as the years progress" and "might" just mean they haven't done the calculations. As I said, you need to look at a more comprehensive study.
I'm not missing anything. When the $7500 tax credits ran out on Tesla and GM vehicles, they lowered their prices by about the same amount. The same thing will happen with the other auto makers. So it's a wash.
I know more about EVs than anyone you ever met. And I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Democrats have destroyed the credibility of the government. I don't know why you leftists hate Putin so much you behave JUST like him.
