amkelley, it's great to hear that your persistence and patience are producing positive results. I hope we are hearing that you are back to having the options to run and race again soon.
I did the 4th race of our local XC series yesterday. From objective results I should be pleased with my racing so far this year. I have run the same time as last year, 4 seconds faster, 2 seconds faster, and the same time as last year again in these first 4 races. However, I am mildly dissatisfied with my performance so far. In training I have averaged about 10% more mileage since the beginning of the year, and in my races I feel like I'm giving up more time than I should on the uphills, and that I really should be able to run at least 5-10 seconds/mile faster pace for the races. I'm going to switch part of one of my weekly workout days to a set of uphill intervals for the next 4-6 weeks and see if that feels like an improvement. Other than that it feels great to be injury free and not over-raced at this point in the season.
Good running and racing to all!
