Greetings!
This week was not uneventful for me. First, I probably caught a slight cold and felt sick for 3 days, thus working easy on a treadmill and elliptical. Second, unexpectedly took part in a local XC ski competition on Sat. My son asked me to help him with 2 my granddaughters and take care of them while he would be skiing (they were competing too at 1 km, with many other little ones). But having arrived at the event, I found out that I could take part too and signed for. Unfortunately, there was only a 3K distance for those 60+, but anyway I did not take it seriously. Had no time to warm up because could hardly meet the elder granddaughter after her finish and put her in a warm car. Therefore, was telling myself: “No rush, 10K pace, 10K pace” as soon as arrived at the start line.
Fortunately, the competition was not too tough. After the first 500 m, one guy immediately opened a good gap in front of me, I was second with a comfortable gap too vs the rest and indeed worked then as if it was 10K. The result was rather moderate (10:40) but after the finish was enjoying a 40 min solo skiing in a nice forest.
Mon – off
Tue – 1:02 treadmill inc. a 7 km (virtual) tempo
Wed – 53 min easy on a treadmill (T) and elliptical (E). Felt sick (sore throat and running nose), thus an easy effort.
Thu - 1:02 on T and E. Still felt sick.
Fri – felt better, thus 1:02 on T and E, but easy/moderate
Sat – A.M. 50 min skiing inc. 3 km tempo @10K pace. P.M. 55 min T & E easy
Sun – 1:26 skiing easy/moderate
Nice week and happy training to everybody!
