Just a quick congrats to Michael Rohl and especially his wife, Michelle on her new American Mile Record! I sure am impressed. Feel free to post up a report on the race Mike. I'd be bragging...
Hey all, Just catching up after getting back from Boston with the team. So here is a recap for Michelle as of this weekend. She opened the season with a 3:07.98 1000m at Cornell. No official record kept bet s far was we can find it is a world best. The next week was the Hartshorne. Cornell is a good facility but it is a flat tack and always very warm. Not a great place for fast times overall. The Finger lakes Club provided a pacer for Michelle but she really doesn't like rabbits. They were out in 77 but the pacer slowed a bit and Michelle followed and they ran back to back 80's. I wasn't there at the race because I was at another meet and Michelle said she just lost focus on her splits. When the rabbit dropped off she went 78. It was the first real good Mile Michelle has done indoors since she started back up. She says she does better either solo like her 10:22 3k last year or in a non rabbited race where she is just racing. She followed up the next week at Bucknell with a 2:24.45 AR and got a round of applause from the the collegians who watched her, which was pretty cool. The next week she went back to Cornell and went 1:42.6 which like the 1000 is probably a world best. She went to Boston this past weekend to try for a fast 3k but came down with some virus. She was 5:05 at 1500 and dropped out at 1800 then proceeded the throw up most of the night so that was fun. She still isn't feeling great today so I don't know if she will do the Mile she planned on this week but she should be good to go for the 5k in Atlanta. Everything she does is on Strava so you can check on it anytime.
