Not to break up this intelligent conversation, but on the virus front...
Georgia has been the slowest state in rolling out the vaccine, but here are some stats regarding Georgia COVID cases. I would think that similar stats for other states would even more encouraging.
As expected, there has been a decrease in the numbers/percent of older residents testing positive for COVID. There has been a steady drop in the percentage of postive cases coming from the 60+ group (Georgia opened up vaccinations to 55+ last week).
1/14 - 20% of cases (7-day avg) were residents 60+ (this was at the peak in cases in GA)
2/1 - 20% of casers were 60+
3/1 - 18%
3/14 - 16%
3/21 - 14.5%
Also, cases from the 1/14 peak to 3/21 have dropped the most in the 60+ age group.
0-17 dropped 78%
18-29 dropped 85%
30-59 dropped 84%
60+ dropped 89%
Georgia has seen a 10% increase in the 7-day average for cases in the 0-59 age group in the last week. However, the cases during that same time period for 60+ have dropped 4%.
Georgia has given at least one dose to 70% of the 65+ residents.
