The times weren't fast.
59:04 (Rupp's time) is 62:18 half marathon pace.
66:35 (Hasay's time) is 70:14 half marathon pace.
Recap here:

A few things:
1. Those races were fun to watch.
2. Galen and Jordan are both in training blocks for a fall marathon that is coming up quick. This isn't the goal race for either of them so getting wins on a tough course is probably what they came to do. They weren't here to time trial. They're both about where their biggest mileage weeks should come, and, on a tough course, I would expect them to run closer to marathon pace. It's why Noah Droddy ran a slow looking time at Crim. He wasn't tapering and trying to hit MP during a high mileage week.
3. Again, Rojo just wants to bash the times instead of talking about what a competitive race we just saw. Rupp ran the fastest winning time since 2012 (2nd 10k in sub-60:00 pace, dropping a lot of the field by doing some front running) on a difficult course. I'm sure it was in the 60s and humid knowing New England weather. SLOW. SAD.
Let's see how RNR Philly goes.
