You’d be faster and healthier if you wore a small
11:32 and I'm being generous.
No 30 year old that doesn’t run regularly is running a 6 minute mile. My guess… between 11 and 12 minutes.
If your average 30 year old was actually forced to run a mile and there were serious consequences if they didn't give it their full effort, then I think something in the 8-9 min range would be reasonable.
HOWEVER, under normal circumstances (ie absent of serious consequences), that time would be a lot slower. I'm of the opinion that people, at least in most of the "western" world, by and large lack the mental fortitude to push through discomfort they'd encounter in trying to hit their current mile potential.
I would say this is the most accurate post I've seen in here. I'm a former college athlete defensive lineman. In my mid thirties now. I run to keep my weight in check but I'm still a very big guy. I'm 6ft 290.Im down from my heaviest 350. The weight is some muscle some fat. Just being honest. If running a mile I can do a pace of 9:30-9:00 depends on the freshness of my legs that day. If running two miles the pace is 9:45-10:30. If running a 5k my pace is between 10-11minutes per mile. I past alot of average Americans in the 5k.its not like I'm completely in the back. I'm in the middle. I'm overweight but still have an athletic background and I can say with a straight face I'm faster than the average American that doesn't train at all. I know this because smaller guys that don't workout come out to run with me and can't keep up. If they start training consistently they will be able to achieve a faster pace then me because they don't have the extra weight on them. Many of them never do this.
You’re high I’m 10lbs obese 6’2 240 lbs and I run a 9:30 mile. Do it almost daily
The answer is 8 minutes some odd seconds. Past generations were probably fitter before the "Sugar in everything years" made the average 30yr old fat
"average mile time of the GENERAL population for a 30 year old male?"
15 minutes. Would be effectively a fast walk, with multiple stops.
The correct answer is 10 minutes!
Assuming you're not including those dying in hospital beds everyone would fall between 5 minutes and 15 minutes...
Which averages out to 10 minutes...
I mean almost everyone 99.9%. Yes I know some guys can run sub 5 minutes at 30 but the vast majority are running from 5 minutes to 15 minutes...
More like 12min 30sec. Although it would mostly fall between 5min and 15min, it would be highly skewed towards 15min. I would estimate only 1 in 1000 30yr old Americans could run a 5min mile or faster.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
