I actually feel like the hurdles is a waste of her supreme talent
50.37 with hurdles man
We have a rough sense of how fast Bol is and syndey must have at least a few tenths, she's def at least up there with Paulino, I think she could go sub 48
Agreed. I think right now, if Syd were called on to do a 400m flat, her ceiling is 48.5 or so. Simply because of a lack of seasoning in the event.
I’m not super knowledgeable about the w Hept. Is there any chance that Anna Hall can move up to 3rd ? I know she can run a strong 800, but is the too far behind to outscore the couple athletes ahead of her?
They said she'd have to beat the athletes currently in 3rd and 4th by over 8 seconds. That's a lot to ask. Not impossible, but a lot to ask
Thanks. I think Hall is the best 800 runner among them so maybe it’s not over just yet.

She'd have to win her 800m by around 8-9 seconds over 4th and 5th to get bronze.
She has a 6s gain on her PB over 5th place Vidts, and about 10-11s over 4th place Kaelin. She'd have to run the race of her life.
If her and KJT can stick together, they can actually push each other on to get really quick times because they both mutually benefit.

As the incoming runner approaches, everything is magnified as there are a ton of guys bearing down on you. As they approach everything is magnified and a flight or fight dynamic kicks in. So relay practice does two things. It helps to figure out the optimal place to put your mark and curbing of the flight syndrome.
Secondly there can be a bit of confusion if incoming runners are dressed similarly. You can leave early if you mistake the approaching runner as your team mate.
So substantive pre-race practice is needed, which they apparently don't do much of.
That is correct. Not only that, but look at the orders of each athlete that just ran. The team was reshuffled. Kerley should have remained where he was on the back straight as Coleman already had some degree of familiarity passing to him. This is pretty much exactly what they did in Tokyo.
And the relay managers and coaches never get fired, no matter how bad they are at their jobs.
Also - is this the first time 3 women went under 49 in the same race?
Yes. Previously the fastest 3rd place time was 49.10 from Atlanta ‘96.
Screw Naser, man. I’m glad she didn’t win but she still stole silver from Kaczmarek and bronze from Adeleke. Must be such a bad taste for them.
Something is off with Naser again. She returned relatively returned from a 2 year suspension and is now back down to 48. No. Sorry. I am not buying this.
Oh my. I just saw the video of Anna Hall’s foul in the javelin after her best throw. Gutted for her.
That was some dumb crap from her. Cost her a medal.
I watched a bit of the morning session and the announcers were harping on her injured knee. I don't think you can put it all on that mistake (though it certainly doesn't help)
