Kessler looking like a completely different athlete from just a year ago. Poised, relaxed and in complete control. The kid is no longer a kid. Could really see something special by him in the final.
Rewatched 1500m heats. Nuguse more concerning than Hocker. Hocker got stuck behind Stewy and fell asleep with CPT boxing him. Nuguse at 150 to go was having a hard time getting to top gear and somewhat lucky Nordas veered to lane 2. He did have it in the last 50, but it was a slow gear shift.
Totally off-topic from Track, but the feed I'm on switched to women's 3-on-3 basketball, USA vs. France. As ridiculous as this sport sounds, it was actually quite exciting to watch. Looks exhausting and high stress.
she is among the 12 best in the world that have advanced to the Olympic final. what's the issue?
You mean among the 13 best because she tied for the last spot with Topic who twisted her ankle. Did you watch her jump, she looks like a$$? Hasn't jumped over 2 meters in years, which is what it will take to medal. She needs to do something different coach-wise or hang it up.

The Peacock coverage stopped. Is there any live feed - streaming coverage to watch the events going on now,e.g. 5k heats, 4x400 round 1, etc?
looks like Peacock coverage starts back up with the 10k final
^ I just woke up and only see the 100m replay available on Peacock. Was looking forward to seeing the 1500 heats
I started watching while the decathlon shot put was going on and was able to go back and watch the 1500 heats. But then when the women's 100 was about to start, I accidentally hit "jump to live" instead of skipping forward 10 seconds and the coverage was over - it wouldn't let me go back at that point.
Maybe the coverage will go back up after a little while (or heats posted to Youtube or something), but otherwise the key seems to be start watching the morning session on Peacock before the last event finishes.
Hocker: C- , didn't look in control, only secured his spot at the very end.
Nuguse: D-, awful placement, had to work way harder than he should. How about shadowing Kerr/Ingy next time?
Disagree about Hocker. I thought he looked fine. He ran on the rail to conserve energy and simply got boxed in for a while. He was patient and then swung wide last turn to unleash his kick. If you have that kick you can afford this tactic. I would say he was in control the whole time. B+ for Hocker.
As for Nuguse, well he qualifed, so he gets a C. He just didn't look great to me and seemed to struggle down the homestretch to kick it in. Let's hope this is just rust.
Regards this repechage rubbish. Seems like a good tactic for those athletes who only had a small chance of making the top 6 in round 1 would be to jog round in ~6-7mins as a shake out and qualify for the repechage. Then the next day they are much fresher than everyone who ran hard, plus when they qualify for the semi's they're in the same position as all those who got a Q in round 1 i.e. have only done one hard effort before the semis
