in general there are two camps whenever someone runs really fast; one camp instantly assumes a mark can not be possible without cheating, while the other has an open mind and wants to understand how it could be possible
i tend to fall in the second camp, giving athletes the benefit of the doubt more often than not
i don't know anything about her training, but if we're to believe what's in this thread it sounds like there has been a change of scenery that has led to greater consistency and overall enjoyment
although she's always been thin, it does appear she's taken it a notch further and this is probably the single biggest way for a runner to improve though i'd say for the sake of longevity and health she should put some weight back on after the olympics
faith kipyegon was the absolute best possible rabbit for this race, just as elle st. pierre was at the US trials. most rabbits kinda suck actually and they only hang on for about 50-60% of the race. you basically have to have a race where the top competitor is confident they can go all-out and just run away from everyone at the end.
maybe it would actually be super lame, but if the goal was simply to run fast organizers should be using a bike as the pacer (kinda like the derby in track cycling) and have it follow the goal pace until 200 (or whatever is deemed appropriate) to go
