Re: UCSB, Vijay Saxena
I was sent this message board and feel compelled to say a few things. I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Vijay Saxena since we hired him in 2022, and I have known him for longer. He is an absolute class act, and a professional through and through. I know him to be earnest and authentic - qualities that I value and I have seen prove to contribute to his success - on top of having an incredible depth of knowledge in training and coaching athletes. The athletes and staff here at West Point know that our loss is UCSB's gain. I have seen how Vijay works, and I only wish he had more time here to help the athletes in Army's program continue to improve.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss the quality of the hire. I would tell anyone that UCSB is lucky to have him, and I look forward to seeing the program do well in the future.

I completely agree with you Ryan! Amazing hire by UCSB! There will always be naysayers and specifically fellow coaches. Vijay is an amazing young man, coach, mentor and professional. If those coaches were so great they would have gotten the job. But, guess what?! The Athletic Director didn’t pick those people. They picked the candidate that they felt was best for the job. If you aren’t in the huddle you don’t know the play! Go Coach Saxena & Go Gauchos!!!
