After every regional, Jonathan Gault will be running Bo Waggoner's program to see who is in and out. He'll post the results on the live blog on the front page: https://www.letsrun.com/events...
Based on Valby’s SEC race her form really fell apart the final 400m as she has a muscular imbalance from the effort. So I’m going to assume she rigged up again like Chmiel does at the end of races just due to biomechanics.
I know it’s not out of this world, but watching Gabija Galvydyte be up with the top leaders, despite being more of a 8/1500 runner, is pretty impressive
You don't think Valby let off the gas a little bit? Up 5.6 seconds at 1 mile, 7.1 seconds at 2.4k, 9 seconds at 3k, 10.5 seconds at 4k and 12 seconds at 4.5k. Seems like Valby was only getting stronger and decided to coast for the last 1.5k when it was in the bag.
Hard to say. The South splits and course times are probably off but Lemngole put 11 seconds? On her in the last k. 3 seconds is a much smaller margin then 30 or whatever it was at SEC, and they could have possibly caught her if it was timed better. I don't think she is going to beat Alabama by 30 seconds again.
OSU takes the individual & team title. Jepkirui wins in 20:28 with Roe right behind her in 20:29. 4 in the top 10, with their 5th in 12th to win with a score of 30 points
Valby only has one gear. I just saw the SE finish. Grassy course. Tuohy just sauntered in.
I read something in a thread yesterday that mentioned Valby is considering the 1500, steeple, and the 10000 this upcoming track season. I looked for the thread but couldn't find it. It may have been a thread from the creeper dude that is obsessed with her and always talks about her tan and "valbymania."
I see her as a good candidate for the 10000 and possibly the steeplechase. I just don't see her as a strong 1500 runner. She doesn't seem to have that top end speed or the ability to change gears that is required to run the 1500 well. I think she would do really well at the 10.

It's really hard to say if she let up or not. It's probably a good guess that she did let up some. Don't base anything on the times or splits. That course was a good bit short. I would guess maybe around 200ish meters short.
It seems a little odd that both she and Asekol showed the least improvement from SEC time...Perhaps both running easy(?) but Asekol fading seemed to point otherwise.

Somebody (probably a coach) gave her a hand check around that point in the race.
On the livestream, that’s probably coach Palmer at about timestamp 13:54 and his wife(?) at timestamp 16:28.

But the runners cross the same timing mat ... It's not like Valby took a shortcut and everybody else ran the right way. A lead is still a lead. Said nothing about times.

There is no way she will ever run the steeple. One step off that water jump and her body will fall apart. No way will she ever do that.
Harvard finishing 4th in the girls race may cost them a spot at NCAAS.
Women's qualifiers with 4/9 regionals complete
Here's the women's field after the results of the South, Southeast, Mountain, and Northeast.
There's only one significant change from the pre-regional projections. Originally, Harvard was projected to qualify in 2nd and Boston College was expected to take 4th. Those two flipped in the results, which means BC now gets in automatically and Harvard is projected to be out of the meet entirely. Providence (3rd Northeast) still gets in as an at-large but they're closer to the bubble as they are currently the last team in.

There is basically 1 race all year that the top people are peaking for. Everything before then you are left guessing about how much they tapered for it and how deep into the well they are going. Pretty easy to get decent sized swings compared to early season races.

She didn’t rig, but when she gets tired, her head will lean a bit back, and to her right, possibly an imbalance to work on.

I know that and that is why earlier I mentioned it's cross country and too much of a big deal is made about the times.
My comment was just made as a general comment about the times. Based on the splits that are on the timing website, Lemngole & Valby both ran the last 1000 meters at < 4:00 mile pace.

I think (sensibly) working on the speed of the 1500m can not hurt. The steeple is a wildcard; she would have Thorner as a training partner in it.
