With the CIF postseason starting, we began our taper into the last hard sessions with a big focus on staying sharp with the four, back-to-back weekends of ra...
They could have won d2 (probably wouldn’t have snuck into the top 4 in the merge)
Even if Doshi would've won the DII race in 14:58. And this something he would've had no chance in doing, they still would've been far off the top 4. DII was very weak this year on the girls and boys side.
It's been a heck of a ride for Newberry park since 2019.

no way they would be top 4 in merge. The top 4 teams are insane. They podium at D2 without Doshi is impressive. Nice job newbury
Thanks for this. I was very proud of our teams yesterday.
I agree, we would not have been top 4 with Dev, and we knew this going into the race, even when we thought Dev would be available. We aim high, but are realistic. DII podium order might have switched around a bit with him, but we would not have been near top 4 after merge.
Dev worked his ass off after SS Finals to try and be ready for State but it was clear after warmups that it just wasn't in the cards for us that day. He did everything he could have possibly done. The guys stepped up big time in his absence. Really proud of them.
Minor but very unfortunate setback for Dev. He'll take a break to recover and come back strong for track season.

crazy they actually podium at the california d2 state meet without doshi. I didn't see that coming.
I don't think many outside of our program did either, and I can't blame them. We were never quite at peak at any point during the season and it didn't really come together well until November. Nothing from our results said we should be on the podium, but internally, we all believed we could and would. We also had a very bad string of luck with illnesses that really hampered Braden Herrera and Nathaniel Schohn, which is why Braden wasn't in the lineup. That's why I'm just so incredibly proud of a team that knew we didn't have Dev, Braden, or a 100% Nathaniel, but yet they still said let's step up and go for it. And Micah and Gabe (sophomores) got some great experience running at State.
After a period of sitting out due to transfer rules, I was finally able to get racing with the Newbury Park XC team as we began the postseason. With the guys...
I just saw this result from D2 California state. Getting 3rd, a point out of 2nd, in xc was very unexpected and impressive, especially missing their best guy, Dev Doshi, and one other guy. As Arnav Shetty was 11th and their 5th guy 49th, a healthy Dev would have meant a drop of more than 30 points. Nice job, coach.
