Did you see her facial expressions before the start? If she wouldn’t have been tripped up, I am not sure she would stuck around and stayed on the track regardless . You can tell she doesn’t want to be there. There’s nothing wrong with that - to be on the biggest platform at this level reminds me of the pressure Simone Biles felt. I just hope she does win the final because I can only imagine the toll the loss would take on her.
I'm thinking Mu is done with athletics after Paris, maybe depending on how bank her contract is.
Not nearly as famous as Biles and probably fell into running due to genetics and not due to an undying love of the sport -- but she seems over it.
Pretty much this. Kind of a bummer such an otherworldly physical talent doesn't but it is what it is. It's lightning in a bottle when you get both the mental and physical piece both align, and Athing just doesn't have that; no fault of hers, it's her life and it's just not there. I'm betting the instant Paris is over she never runs another interval in her life.
I hope she is going to by OK. In 1981 I had the same type of turning she went through and the next day my knee was so swollen that it had to be drained.
When you’re running straight and then you have that lateral strain on the knee, especially if the spikes catch, it can lead to a serious injury.
Why does US completely dominate other throws, but have no one podiuming in javelin ???
very little HS recruitment as a lot of states don’t have Jav and baseball and football both chew away at potential athletes - finally it’s pretty much ignored so you have to get someone who lives in the right state, doesn’t like baseball and tries jav in spring after f-ball season, has a good coach and doesn’t mind being ignored.
