I urge you (and everyone else) to read the actual indictment. (It's really not that long.) President Trump is not being prosecuted for simply lying about the election results.
Sorry but that's essentially what it boils down to.
Welp, we keep finding the people who haven't read the indictment.
If someone was expressing strong opinions about, say, the Bible or Das Kapital, you would expect that s/he had read it, right? Or else you'd brush those opinions aside as simple ignorance.
The indictment is orders of magnitude shorter than either of those. It's a pretty easy and quick read. Why not read it? If you have enough time to go through this thread and put up multiple posts, you probably have more than enough time to read the thing.
Good lord man, don’t comment on it any more before you read it.
Why can't you answer my question? I'll take that as a no and that's enough to confirm my initial conclusions.
The “peaceful and patriotic” part is a cover your ass line that followed “if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
Trump saw the rioting and didn’t order the National Guard to quell the disruption because it was achieving his desired goal of disrupting the certification process.

Can you point me to which page it talks about how Trump told people to stay peaceful and how they twisted this into a seditious conspiracy charge nonetheless?
If it doesn't even mention this then I'd rather not waste my time
Here is one part I enjoyed in the indictment. Trump and his criminals have tried to spin this fake elector scheme as just a back up plan in case their legal challenges came out in their favor. That is absurd on it's face and still highly illegal. But even if that were true. They tried it in Arizona where every single one of the legal challenges were already settled! Absolutely no legal challenges to wait for. No need for fake electors other than 100% fraud! Oopsie Daisy. So what does Trump and crew do? They notice this glaring problem so the initiate a new legal challenge after the fake elector scam to provide cover.
These bumbling idiots left receipts everywhere!
And the Gov of AZ is sharing all the pressure they put on him.

You would be wrong again. It is in there. You need to read it for yourself. We are not your Monkeys. Reading is easy. It is only about 45 pages. You can do it.
Read it with a critical eye and share all your ways you have debunked it.

The indictment will not include Trump's bs possible line of defence but describes the breaches of the law he committed that will be supported by evidence. You should try reading it, since it is obvious you haven't.

Do you think indictments usually bring up things that don’t break the law? All the time he spent brushing his teeth or riding in a car? The indictment outlines the actions that are being charged. His defense lawyers will bring up the argument that he didn’t intend violence in the trial.
It is quite noteworthy that none of the right wingers are trying to defend this totally illegal fake elector scheme whatsoever. So many eyewitnesses and receipts to that one. And the star witness is Mike Freekin Pence!
How do you defend it? I'm wiling to hear what you go. Anything?
The 'abuse' was by Trump and his attempt as a sitting president to manipulate an fair/legal election.
The reason this type of case is unprecedented is because Trump's attempt to overturn a fair/legal election is unprecedented.
Just curious, does the indictment mention that he told people to march peacefully? That negates any possible charge of solicitation, seditious conspiracy, incitement, fraud, or insurrection. If not then it's just a political document as I suspected.
You are posting under the continued misundertanding that the Indictment relates to Trump's words before, during and after the January 6th Capitol riot. I can't tell if your ignorance of the content of the Indictment is deliberate or not. It is really weird behavior either way.
3. Obstruction or attempt to obstruct an official proceeding
4. Conspiracy against rights
I wasn't old enough to vote for or against him so I say this as someone who is just watching from the sidelines, but these all sound way too vague to take seriously. Bottom line is he has free speech rights to claim he won the election regardless of what the correct vote count is.
Reading is fundamental. I guess you are very young, naive and most likely just ignorant.
He tried to change the outcome of a presidential election. He is on tape asking the Georgia Secretary of State to find him votes....after the election. He is as guilty as it get. This isn't about free speech, he has been lying for years.
These guys are proving that they did not read it. Trump's "stay peaceful" tweet is in there with the time stamps of when he did it.
Trust me it is not exculpatory.
I fully acknowledged I haven't and don't plan to read it unless you tell me what page this is on so I can look. But yes interestingly several people claim to have read it and yet say it's not in there so they haven't read it either.
But if I could add one more comment I can honestly say I'd never want to see a political opponent prosecuted with such weak charges. This is the sort of thing a weak party does when they're trying to cling to power rather than leave it up to the 2024 election and as some alluded to, a tactic you'd expect in a 2nd or 3rd world country.

You don’t even know what the charges are based on!
