You think someone from a very woke Boston suburb wants to go to the preeminent M'AGA college?

Personally, I could never in a million years see Ellie Shea from Belmont, MA going to Liberty University. But maybe she'll surprise people with some other plan.
Belmont is a wealthy suburb. I'm sure her parents planned ahead without knowing she would be such a star, and $360K is no biggie.
So rather than take a full ride at Stanford and give her the $360K as a gift, they will spend it instead? I see why dumb people remain poor.
Why have you posted under 3-4 different names on this thread?
52 students at Luberty are from MA.
Even as a diversity hire, if she wants to pursue IB or even MF PE straight out of college, Stanford places significantly worse than top Ivies. Most is due to students' preferences but it'd be worse career-wise.
But the $360K invested will be $500K when she graduates. And it will earn $50K per year for her thereafter. The aversge Ivy grad is not getting a salary $50K higher than the average Stanford grad. Neither school even averages over $100K for initial salaries.
Dude, people who spend $360K on college are multimillionaires and stay very, very wealthy. That's probably under a year of capital gains for many Belmont residents. Tell us you're a poor person from middle America without telling us.....
Central MA is dumpy and conservative; we're talking about greater Boston here.
I attended Princeton and now live in Manhatten. I grew up in North Carolina. My parents paid about $300K for my education. My sister attended UNC and paid almost nothing. My parents gave her $200K as a graduation gift. She and I earn about the same amount but she has amassed more than $1M already partly due to her headstart. I have amassed only about $600K even though I am a year older than her. My parents are wealthier than anyone posting here.
And you spell like you're from Baltimore. I'd say this is Rojo except he's from Texas
I agree. Just pointing out that there are people from MA attending Liberty. Republicans and Democrats move to where the jobs are. What happened to the rich being Republicans?
Princeton High School or...?
No. The real deal. I majored in Econ amd ran there. I was not great but manged to run 14:05. I enjoyed it but I typically advise kids to save the money if they can go to a good school for much less.
Okay - no offense, dude, but nobody cares.
I kinda care if he's hiring....

So it is June after Ellie Shea’s senior year, still without a college announcement - which is totally fine. For better or worse, she really is doing her own thing, which many posters have suggested she would do during the life of this thread.
This week, she managed U20 Qs in Eugene in the 5000 and 3000 against very small fields, but she qualified so I guess that’s all that matters. On one hand, I suppose she should be applauded for wanting to represent the USA at these underwhelming world events, but I’m not sure I understand the end goal, unless it is USATF paying for her to travel the world.
Can anybody offer some insight(s) or speculation re how and why this is a great plan for her future?
I don't even understand your question. It is like asking why the 25 year old runners compete in the trials and the Olympics.
