Halfway through September... exactly one NY boys team has put 4 guys above 160 SR in the same race. I know it's still a bit early, but this is shockingly weak.

Actually…
Brooklyn Technical - 176, 164, 163, 161, 152
Auburn - 173, 168, 166, 164, 147
So that’s 2 teams
Saratoga was close to putting 4 above 160.
176, 172, 162, 159, 157
They were also missing Pasek & Shaw
Fairport & North Rockland have yet to run a race that isn’t a relay. Both should open their season on September 23
St. Anthony’s - 172, 171, 156, 152 (162 in the previous race). They are still missing one of their scorers at NXN (MacPherson)
Monroe Woodbury vs Washingtonville
If Mahoney ran at VVS and finished with Boutwell, Corning would have finished about 5th in the merge.
Auburn returns all of their top 3 and their #7 next year.
And only 1 person from that group is a junior.
Their top 2 are sophs and their 7th man is a freshman.
First Tully rankings of the year dropped yesterday. Only three guys in NYS with speed ratings over 180. None from Class B, Class C, or AIS/PSAL/CHSAA.
That's pretty bad.
So how well can McGinn do at NXN? Can he be an all-American like Gilstrap was last year?
I have to wonder if McGinn has the track pedigree to be a real threat at NXN. He just hasn't shown any speed to this point. Gilstrap didn't really show much either, prior to being a senior, but he did run a 1:56 800 as a jr, showing some raw speed.
Was McGinn injured during track season?
Track PRs:
Outdoor
800 Meter Run
1:58.50
1600 Meter Run
4:18.24
One Mile Run
4:20.56
3200 Meter Run
9:19.14
Indoor
1000 Meter Run
2:39.54
1600 Meter Run
4:23.94
3200 Meter Run
9:57.6

I'm not going to attempt to "predict" anything based on one mark in September, but the number he's sitting on right now would've been 33rd at NXN last year.

These are not rock solid "predictors", as Mr. Meylan explains better in the article. But it's a pretty interesting chart to peruse while pondering these things.
1:56 in the 800 gives no guarantee of becoming an all-American at NXN.
Saratoga Springs has a guy who ran a 1:55 last spring but there is no guarantee that he will end up in their top 7 this year

Those times don't say "injured"... they say "really solid guy who might be just outside nationally-elite level".
This week's Section 3 duals are up on Leone Timing.
Brady did not run for Auburn, who looked like they tempoed. FM's girls looked pretty solid. FM's boys would've lost to Liverpool's JV.
Czyz, who far behind Auburn’s 4th guy during the first two meets, finished pretty close to their top 2. I wonder if he can keep up with them in actual races (not tempoing). If he can, then they have a solid top 5, and can compete for an NXN spot even without Brady and Ringwood.
Auburn’s modified team had some solid performances. Those guys will help continue the legacy. Auburn’s top 2 were sophomores and they also have another freshman (Ringwood) on varsity.
And yes FM girls team is solid and they return their whole varsity except for their #5 and #7.
With how much of the season is left, they may be able to take down Bethlehem if they keep improving. I think Aris should allow them to race NXR even if they are not predicted to beat Bethlehem. Anything can happen to anyone at NXR.
FM boys team has two individuals that have the ability to qualify for the state meet.

Seriously?
He's ranked 16th among Section 3 Class A runners. Would need to beat guys who were over 30 seconds in front of him at VVS.
You must know something nobody else does.
Lots of good races this weekend!
Bowdoin Park Classic - St. Anthony’s, Corning, Hunter Colleges top guys will be fun to watch there too along with Van Furman for the individuals. CBA NJ for anyone interested in teams outside NY.
Baldwinsville Invitational - Rematch of Ithaca and Auburn from last weekend, some other decent teams in the mix, Baldwinsville, Liverpool, Burnt Hills.
Queensbury Invitational - Saratoga boys, Guilderland, lots of section 2 teams.
Any predictions for best team/individual performance across any of these meets?

North Rockland's also scheduled to open at Queensbury, although they have Six Flags on their schedule too, and I don't know if it's a boys team/girls team split or an A team/B team split or what. Six Flags shows individual entries, but there's like two million kids entered and it's in random order, so forget that. But I'd add Six Flags to that 'watchlist', too. There's always a bunch of NY teams there.
I'm sticking with what I said two weeks ago and watching what NR does before I hand anybody anything. I don't forsee them doing anything that's going to make me pick them for NXN. But if they can do what I theoretically think they can do, they could be a real pain in the neck as a 'bubble' team.
