Smith looked great, dropping Liam and K. Lanoy pretty easily at the end. Miller ran multiple events and looked sluggish, and that 800 was stacked. Lancaster was unreal. Schorr and Taylor are becoming forces, looking ready to replace the Lanoys and Thress - who didn't run. Eckert from Liberty ran as advertised. He's not Nastari, but he's pretty darn good. I can see him going 1:51-52 in the right race, considering he has 49 speed. Last... Ackley must be just gearing up for late June. He ran 4 events today - DMR 1600, 4x800, 800, 4x400.
The Lanoy’s did run. Kaiden ran the 1600 and the 4x8 I believe. Isaiah ran the 4x8 and the 4x4 and Trevor had a great race in the 800 running 1:56 and he came back and ran the 4x4 with a split of 52 low
Sorry... I wasnt as clear as I thought. I just meant Thress didn't run. Apparently he's nursing an injury. Nothing major.
You all are a bit crazy. This is Lancaster's race to lose.
1:55 - Thress
2:00 - Schorr
1:56 - Taylor
1:57? - T. Lanoy (no crazy open 800 times, since he doesn't run it. But dude has gone 4:18/9:17)
Gales go 7:40 this spring. Calling it now.
Lancaster is very good. Also should be an early favorite.
I think you are underestimating how fast 7:40 is.
Also, typically you don’t run 7:40 with 4 guys that can go under 1:55. It’s usually two studs who can run 1:50/1:51 consistently doing most of the work, and then two guys who can consistently run 1:57.
And then you have to put it all together on the right day.
Hey there Supertramp... my 7:40 prediction is looking pretty good after this weekend.
Lots of large relay meets taking place this Friday including:
Freedom Relays @ Olen. Liberty: Many solid teams including Dublin Coffman, Dublin Jerome, Hilliard Davidson, and all of the Olentangy schools including Orange.
Fulton Relays @ Lancaster: Top teams participating are Lancaster, Worth. Kilbourne, Dublin Scioto, Pick. North, Granville
Eastern Relays @ Louisville Kentucky: No large relay teams from Ohio competing in this, but several of the top 3200m athletes in the state are participating in the 3200 here including Connor Ackley, Jack Agnew, and Evan Trapp. Also some others from St. Xavier and some 800m races from Beavercreek.
Overall, this is looking like an exciting Friday for Ohio Track and Field.

Ackley to run a sub-9:10 here? Probable. Has he ever gone sub-9:00?

Ackley has gone 8:51.10 for 2 miles which converts to a 8:48.02 for 3200. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes sub 8:50 tonight. It will be a great race between him and last year's winner, Keegan Smith of Knoxville. Smith has a 3200 PR of 8:51.87 and won last year in 8:52.96 as a freshman. Last year's runner up, Will Conway of Indiana, is also in the field and has a PR of 856.39
Ohio guys have a history of doing well at Eastern in the 3200. Of the top 10 times in the history of the meet, Ohio runners have seven of them.

It looks like Mason held out most of their top runners. I was surprised that Paschka didn't run at Eastern but I don't believe Mason traditionally sends kids there.
Ackley with the win in 9:07.51. Also a nice run by Trapp of St X for 3rd in 9:12. Last year's winner, Keegan Smith of Tennessee was just behind Trapp.
The times were a bit slower than I thought they were going to be. Does anyone know how the weather was? It was pretty nasty in Ohio yesterday. Columbus/Powell area had a good bit of strong winds, rain, and hail. I remember one of Horter's times down there, either the 8:48 or 8:56, was in a driving rain.
Ackley, Trapp, and Jack Agnew are all scheduled in the mile today.

Man, I'd forgotten how talented that 2018 class was... Horter, Johnson, Kreft, Scrape, Jha, Payne...

Lucas Bons also. He’s run a 3:55 mile at BYU. There was a ton of talent nationwide that year.
They’ve all been relatively successful in college.
Kreft has done great as a grad transfer to Walsh. He had difficulty cracking the top 7 for cross country when he was at ND due to being with a bunch of guys with freakish talent. He seems better now.
All of the others have had their moments of success. Horter was one of the most talented in the country from that class but he did not quite get to the level that many thought he would. Maybe he had a lot of injuries or was already at his limit in high school?

Good call on Bons. Which reminds me of the greatest of that 2018 class, honestly... Steiner.
