Too early to tell for a lot of these runners, right now I would say my top 5 would be
1. Ackley
2. Rice
3. Ricchuiti
4. Smith
5. Trapp
It’s so hard though, a lot of the guys on that list could have a good race and jump up. Just have to wait and see
This is a good guess for right now.
Here is a guy I would keep an eye on as a darkhorse:
Landon Kimmel, the freshman from Tippecanoe.
He ran 15:56 at the Mason Invite, and was only one second away from Rock Bridge (MO) #1 guy Andrew Hauser, who was in the MileSplit top 25 nationally.
I've found that oftentimes, freshmen just keep getting better and better as the year goes on as they start to figure out the 5K.
Who knows what might happen, but I really think he could be a rockstar, maybe sooner than later too.
Gianni Allwein of Walnut Hills will challenge for a top 5 spot as well.
There are instances of freshman that don't get better. If the body fills out and they put on a lot of muscle weight that doesn't always help. It happens with girls a lot more than the boys but I have seen boys stagnate or actually get slower.
New thoughts on top 5-10 teams for girls D1 (Ohio) and top 10 individuals? I know only halfway through season and plenty of time to go, but for where everyone is at with 4 weeks or so of data..D2 and D3 forsure welcomed in this too!
Hil Davidson will be down next year after Ackley and bunch of other seniors leave
Hil. Davidson is a great program. They always reload.
Looking at how big their 3-5 gap is, it doesn’t sound like they are reloading this year. Or they would have been #2 this year behind Mason. Last year they almost got 2nd at state and bring Ackley and 3 other people back.
