Fine. Minus her prescribed medication, IS SHE ACTUALLY INJURED? She said it was an injury less than a month ago. She’s run a rather lengthy trail race and now on IG she is advertising a rather long bike race she is participating in. She owes the world nothing . But don’t fake or lie about an injury if there is more to the story. I’m for honesty and at least a little transparency. This just feels and looks a little fishy.
Re. the point about running under a pseudonym. You guys have seriously never entered a local race as "Dick Pound" or "Harry Cox" just show it'd show up in the results and some poor sap would have to announce that name at the awards ceremony?

How do you know she “faked” an injury? She has a stress reaction, not a stress fracture. Maybe she has been taking more time off before this. You literally know nothing and continue to make assumptions based on… a social media account.
She’s riding in a race to raise money, not make money.
Hell, at this point no one even knows whether she is still taking Adderall.
i had a sacral stress fracture. i couldn't run for a year. i could barely walk for the first month.
How is a hobby jogger’s experience of a stress fracture relevant to a professional runner’s experience of a stress reaction?
Human bodies are human bodies. They still respond to stress and rest in similar fashions whether you are a pro or a regular person.
I Cannot think of any situation where the recommendation for a stress rxn or fracture is MORE intensity rather than more rest.
It is obviously hard, or impossible to know her recovery time frame, but it feels odd to see a person with stress rxn who pulled out of one stressful event out doing ANOTHER stressful event the same week.
Theory: she is pulling a Suzy Favor Hamilton (minus the sex part). She can't handle the pressure to compete as a high level marathoner anymore. But it seems this pressure is heavy on female USA marathoners. Hasay, Gwen, etc.. getting out into a hole they cannot climb out of
Molly Seidel has been open about discussing her long term mental health battles over the years. In a people magazine interview, she's quoted as saying,
"I've been pretty anti-medication for years now due to some terrible reactions to multiple SSRIs I was placed on. Nothing ever seemed to work, and oftentimes after a few weeks, a new med would lead me to a really dark place. So I chose to live without medication and deal with my mental health struggles through therapy alone, which helps but honestly can be extremely difficult." It wasn't until she switched therapists earlier this year that she received her ADHD diagnosis and started taking the stimulant Adderall. "It would probably be appropriate to describe it as life-changing, and for the first time, I felt like I was able to get the quiet, functioning brain in my day-to-day life that I could previously only achieve with intense physical activity. It also gave me remission of many eating disorders behaviors that I've dealt with consistently since my teens."
As a competitive runner myself, I know I can get depressed when I'm not running. So, Seidel anonymously enters a trail race and hobby-jogs to an 8th place finish. No harm, no foul. I don't know about her injury, but I know I've skipped national competition due to injury and done a workout instead, knowing I could bail out at any time with no pressure if the injury flared up. Molly could easily have been doing the same thing.
The posters making negative comments here should be ashamed of themselves. You are cyber bullying a woman with long-term mental health issues. This is really a low point for a forum with admittedly low standards.
