wait theare younger pro distance runners than her that qualified? katelyn's 20 years old btw
Mu is still 19 now. Cole Hocker was a soph last year and younger than Tuohy will be this year when he made the team. Mary Cain was a high school senior when she made the team. Jager was a pro at Tuohy's age and made a WC final in the 5000. Want more examplea?
My point to Astro was that it is never a negative connotation for someone to compete in the US championship if they are good enough to qualify.
and his point was about being a top distance runner having to extend 2 weeks of track season, over training and not resting / slowly building mileage for cross country, and obviously nc state is a very high level team that is looking for a back 2 back championship
athing mu runs 800, only runs 800 below, turned pro and does not run cross country nor 60 miles per week
mary cain is a high schooler who turned pro, wasn't serious on cross country, all she had to think about was track when she was at her peak
cole hocker did the same, he went pro, did not run xc after trials
and now how about cooper teare, he ran trials and we know what happened to him at the cross country championships
and still after all of that i still want to see tuohy in the outdoor championships

Correction, Jager did not advance to the final. I remembered there were 3 Americans but the US had 4 qualifiers because Lagat was the auto.

this is why astro has a point, tuohy is not a pro runner like those names above, shes a college sophomore that is currently having a break out season..and will have a tough and exhausting cross season ahead because her team is going for a back2back ncaa championship titles and she is now nc state's best runner

That's a valid point but what I objected to was the idea a soph competing in the US champs has a negative connotation. And Nico was the top finisher on a championship team his freshman year going for a 3rd team title in the fall when he ran the trials.
If an athlete decides to prioritize their college running over the experience of competing in the US champs that's their decision but if Tuohy runs at US i certainly won't think of it negatively.
I don't think Hocker was tbinking of turning pro before the trials last year. He made that decision after his succees in the Olympics. What if Tuohy were somehow to make the US team? Would you not want her to compete at Worlds if it might make her XC season tougher?

and that is why you also have a point and that is why even though astro also have a point i still want to see tuohy compete at the outdoor championships because thats the highest opportunity a college runner can get, its an experience unlike any other
cross country season happens yearly, oregon22 doesnt
but we'll see how it goes ,, still plenty of things going to happen acc, regionals, nationals before she worries about whether running or not, and if yes .. how she can do it all and still be ready and well-rested for the cross season

Agree. Just fyi, in 2007 Rupp ran a full indoor and outdoor track season. Finished 11th in WC in Osaka and came back a few months later to finish 2nd in NCAA XC, leading Oregon to the team title. I think he was a junior at the time.

see, theres only too few who comeback fit that you have to go to 2007 ... because mostly they dont .. specially from last season on the women's side ... that extra 2 weeks of running will cost something but it really just depends on how the athlete manages her/his recovery, and for tuohy, im confident she can pull it all together
You try so hard to build Tuohy up that it turns fans off. She is one of the best runners in the NCAA. Let her be who she is. Don't take posts personally. Everyone likes Tuohy regardless of what you seem to believe. If people don't share your future projections, it doesn't mean that they don't like her nor should it matter whether they do or don't anyway.
They generally don't come back because they are too fast. Tuohy is still only at the level of the NCAA.
dont butt in if you are not part of the conversation, you dont even understand what we are talking
i was talking about the college athletes not coming back to the ncaa top level after trials, and not the already pro runners not coming back to ncaa ... tuohy is indeed at the level of ncaa, whats wrong with that? shes 20 and runs 15:14 ... ranks no.3 in the US ..ranks no.1 in the ncaa as a sophomore
she's right where she should be and more, shes thriving, improving, enjoying the process

said by the person who said tuohy will not run because she's going to be embarrassed of losing???

Just as how hard you try to bring tuohy down and her accomplishments, i will try harder to bring her up and celebrate her every accomplishments and defeats.. so buckle up coz i aint going anywhere .. and no one forced you to be here
