If the guy died from the punch, it would have been manslaughter. Thus the fact that he didn't die makes it attempted manslaughter.
Wrong again. The prosecutor has to prove he WOULD have died without assistance. Not COULD have died. If what your saying is true, then anybody who gets in a fight at school should be charged with manslaughter/attempted manslaughter. Not going to happen.
