She was calm as could be the final laps. Insane composure while Koko was writhing.
What makes you so sure she is clean?

WTF is a 'full mile'?

1600 meters would be a “not full mile”!

Prime example of how well epo works. Not even out of breath when she finished, looks like she has changed to the dark side after Doha.
That is blatantly wrong. I had the privilege of training with Elle this summer for a brief period of time and have met her on multiple occasions along with her coach. They are very against the idea of epo and are devoted to a clean sport. What has this world come to where we doubt each and every performance.

What does that type of breakthrough and shock remind you of? Only thing I can think of is Solinsky's 2659 but admittedly their wasn't a barrier to be broken here unless you think of it as the 4:00 barrier.
Her time converts to a 3:57.8 1500.
Reminded me of Jenny Simpson breaking 4. Is Purrier essentially training alone at UNH with her college coach and doing all this? The 1500 women’s is too loaded though.
No she switched coaches almost immediately after graduation and has been training with New Balance Boston with Mark Coogan since then. Just did a training camp in Flagstaff I think? from social media. Her college coach has not been involved in almost 2 years, she's 10 seconds faster since the coaching change
No way Coogan would broker even a whiff of drugs. Legit clean WR. She and Shelby are now the best 1-2 punch in U.S. history.
I’m in shock. I’m in Paris and actually saw the end of the men’s mile on my phone. I had seen earlier from results Brazier got the AR and then I decided to look at other results and I saw Wilson broke the AR and then I get some text about Purrier and black page and I was trying to think what she possibly did. Unbelievable. And posts like below are the ultimate compliment. If you’re clean and people think you’re dirty then that is the ultimate.

Well that's a nice testimonial! Must be true then.
National records for USA, Germany, GB, and Canada. If this were a road race it’d only be because they were wearing vaporfly’s, what’s the excuse for this one?
if she ran 4:16.2 last year at 5th, why are we shocked by this
5th Avenue is straight line net downhill.

Nice, thx for the info. Makes sense with New Balance’s Boston HQ. I think she’s looked really lean and fit really since last year. She was always strong and tough in college, but she’s really put the pieces together a la Shelby Houlihan. Heckuva 1-2 duo the USA has, but we can’t forget how good Kipyegon and Hassan are. Shelby and Perrier might very well get to 3:53-3:54 range and still be gapped.
Congrats to Elle and Mark Coogan-- 100% clean!
Great race. Grats Purrier.
Her time could have been even better had she not gotten steered out on the 2nd to last turn. She powered through that anyway.
Purrier is actually a positive case study for the lengthy discussions on youth to adult women elites. In high school undertrained, in college "presumably" undertrained at non distance power school. She was very athletic and big in college for a classic distance runner. (Board even said she was fat LOL)
Now with pro training she has an amazing response and she has really leaned out...but she still looks athletic, healthy, happy and motivated.
Delighted for her, and will not be surprised if she drags 4, 5, 6 other US women along with her to PRs as this Olympic year continues.
Why are people so impressed with a 4:16 when Hassan just broke the world record with a 4:12? A good race by Purrier but she's still clearly way behind Houlihan.

For place 2-4 rojo can of course blame the new Nike spikes, but Purrier who produced the most absurd result (those behind her were really good, but not unexpectedly good) sadly is sponsored by New Balance. Unless NB secretly invented a spike superior to all its competiton, rojo will desperatly try to ignore this result and continue to blame every fast road performance on the shoes (which makes sense because he surely gets paid by Nike to do so).
Also I agree there's no way the winner was clean, but I actually don't care, it's fun to see not only doped up Genzebe do such superman efforts indoors.
