Worthless.
Pure click bait.
Al Sal is ruining the sport!
HS runner of the decade?
My picks
Female- Katelyn Tuohy
Male- Lukas Verzbicas
Honorable Mention- Edward Cheserek, Drew Hunter, Grant Fisher, Mary Cain, Alexa Efraimson
How does Jenny beat out Rupp??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I agree with most of these, but the Caster pick was terrible.

Yes, some very questionable, if not outright disgusting choices:
Women’s Distance Runner of the Decade: Caster Semenya - isn't allowed anymore to compete as she is
US Men’s Distance Runner of the Decade: Matthew Centrowitz - cheater coach Salazar
US Women’s Distance Runner of the Decade: Jenny Simpson - cheater doc Brown
“What If” of the Decade: Evan Jager’s 8:00 in Paris - comical 5 out of 3 stars on the infamous likely doping list
Person of the Decade: Alberto Salazar - banned drug cheat
And giving out doping awards like for Shawn Barber and Asbel Kiprop? Oh boy.
Brojos, how about you come up with a clean list of decade awards?
+1 I never knew she also went to Dr Brown

Men's runner of the decade: Eliud Kipchoge* [*It must be the shoes; literal asterisk]
Women’s Distance Runner of the Decade: Caster Semenya* [*Some controversy about 'woman' part; literal asterisk]
US Men’s Distance Runner of the Decade: Matthew Centrowitz* [*I know, winning is what counts, but 3:50?]
US Women’s Distance Runner of the Decade: Jenny Simpson* [*The only award that doesn't come with an asterisk]
Upset of the Decade: Yuki Kawauchi Wins the 2018 Boston Marathon* [*The weather may have played a role.]
“What If” of the Decade: Evan Jager’s 8:00 in Paris* [*This award is pure asterisk; what if he didn't trip?]
Doping Bust of the Decade: Asbel Kiprop* [*This puts an asterisk next to his Olympic and WC medals forever.]
Person of the Decade: Alberto Salazar* [*In recognition of his putting asterisks next to the careers of Mo Farah, Galen Rupp, and many others.]
How can "What if" of the decade not be Wanjiru. He was the most talented young runner since Bekele and began the transformation of the marathon. If he had not had his issues and died tragically who knows what he could be doing now. How does someone tripping and losing a diamond league race even compare to this? Wanjiru was the half marathon record holder, Olympic champ, and had multiple major titles. Jager's moment barely registered if you aren't an American and I'll be honest I'm not sure anyone really cares about it that much just a few years later. Everyone runner who watched the rise and fall of Wanjiru is never forgetting him and never seeing him have the chance to race Kip of Bekele in the marathon is a massive What If.
Great -- if you guys want to be the Breitbart News of running, go for it. (Though even Breitbart has copy editors.)
Is everyone dense? Most of these selections were meant as tongue in cheek.
Great choices. I like ‘Ghost of Igloi’ for Troll of the Decade. That’s an amazing accomplishment given his late start.

After reading this, I totally agree with you. Wanjiru battling Kipchoge could have been incredible.
Wasn't Dr. Brown recommended to Mark Wetmore by Andy Martin? So he sent Goucher and Jenny there. Both got the bad vibe and didn't go back. Mark didn't know he was a questionable doctor or he would not have sent anyone there. He is very opposed to cheating in any way and would not throw out his good reputation for that guy or anyone else.

You're aware that everyone you know personally talks about you behind your back about how whiny you are right?
As for what if of the decade, I think that Jager is a reasonable choice because that was a potential paradigm-shifting moment, since no one expected that kind of dominance from an American-born athlete in the distances. However, on the American stage, there is no bigger what if than Andrew Wheating. After starting track as a senior in high school and winning national championships at Oregon, he goes to Europe right after graduation, runs a 1:44 800m pr in Paris as a tuneup, staying way behind and out of trouble until the last lap, as usual, never really putting it out there and taking risks, and then he goes to Monaco and runs his first Euro 1500m in 3:30, putting him among the best ever Americans at the distance.
He was 22 and he hadn't ever taken much of a risk in the race, pushing only on part of the last lap once again.
Surely, this guy, who had an incredible kick, was going to be a world beater. What if he had lived up to his potential? He was talented enough to dominate the 1500m this decade. He was 22 in 2010, a non-championship year, unfortunately. That means he's only about 31 now. Lagat was still a contender into his forties. He could have multiple medals. So, that's a what if story if anything. As for Wanjiru, 26:41 at "18" and a 2:06 in miserable conditions in Beijing showed his tremendous potential. There's no way he was eighteen at the time, but he was young enough to be at the top of the sport for a long time. What happened to him, though, was that he couldn't handle the fame and was having serious problems before (and leading to) his death. So, if he hadn't died, he might still have been out of the sport or out of shape soon after.
I read the article re athletes of the decade and was disappointed in the lack of recognition afforded Emma Coburn. Sincerely,
Rob ROBISON
That's not the way most of the posters here seem to be interpreting the (idiotic) list.
