Abike Egbeniyi catches a spike in the 800, AND Danae Rivers doesn't qualify!!! this is huge for Penn's shot at an individual title
Looks like she was pretty clearly clipped from behind by Rivers so this seems like a lose-lose, unless Rivers can find a way to make a protest in her favor somehow.

The race is "under review" now so we'll see... it seems like if anyone would advance it would be Egbeniyi though, seemed like Rivers knew that she was boxed so she got a little too antsy trying to push out, and either clipped or pushed Egbeniyi as a result which caused the fall.
https://dt8v5llb2dwhs.cloudfront.net/NCAA/024-1-02.htmThe female announcer doesn’t know her lead leg from trail leg. The KSU hurdler hit the hurdle with her trail knee, causing her to fall, not her lead leg knee...
Also, it seems like every female athlete is a “work horse” according to this same announcer. I wonder if I need to start doing shots for each time I hear that phrase tonight...
kansas state's Ranae McKensie, the NCAA leader, is out of the 400h prelims with a fall.
What makes this even worse is that with 100-110 meters to go, Rivers had a clean lane on the outside. Instead, she made the incredibly poor decision to cut in on the final straight and try to weave through traffic, leading to the box and the trip. It was a little inexplicable to be honest.

yea, it seems like time and time again we see great 800 runners that just can't race the rounds at championships, or have to rely on basically "getting lucky" to not end up in a situation like that. part of it is probably the format, but if it was Rivers that made the protest i really think she didn't have any legs to stand on.
looks like the site doesn't say "under review" any more and there are no DQs or extra Qs, so seems the ncaa agrees.
Women go through the mile in 5:45. Still no mention from the incompetent announcers of the New Mexico women.
is there a stream like last night dedicated to the 10k with no commercial breaks?

No, unless you want to catch the top of the runners' heads from the pole vault cam
The pace really started to slow around the mile but Rohrer is stringing it out no
Rohrer doing all of the work for Kelati.

Kurgat isn't a favorite and Kelati always chokes. No sense in focusing on them.
Top three twice indoors and runner up at xc is hardly choking.

So let’s talk about Anna Rohrer and Norte Dame for the first four laps instead. She has done a lot the last 2 years.

And Notre Dame in general- with the other 2 runners a couple of the 1st to be dropped.
Man this is brutal to watch after the 10k stream from last night. Didn't realize how nice it was to watch a 10k uninterrupted with no idiotic announcers until having to go through this. It is always baffling that this is one of the biggest track and field events of the year in this country on the leader of sports media and they can't find someone educated to speak about the race.

Well she dominates just about every race she runs and can't win the ones that matter.
looks like Kelati & Kurgat took the lead giving Rohrer a chance for a break now. Kurgat didn't look fit earlier in the season but if she's fit she's definitely got a shot at the win
