Farah lopes and bounces quite a bit for the marathon. Kipchoge dominated him.
I disagree; I think if he was going to improve, he would have done between Chicago and this year's London. I think he's plateaued because of his age and his ability level, which has never included being able to run the fast times of past 5000 and 10000m Champions. He's been a lucky athlete whose combination of abilities led to so many titles. Theres just too much competition in the marathon for him to dominate and win world and Olympic titles or even another major, since Ethiopia and Kenya aren't limited to 3 athletes.

This, lots of wasted energy.

Obviously the man can’t produce a threatening time (sub 2:04) that will challenge the top runners in the world, not to mention him being two levels below Kipchoge. All his track career is nothing but taking an opportunity that the big guns had moved to the road. He never produced challenging times on the track. Now that he is forced to run fast, he can’t handle it. He can go to Boston next year. If he coulda he woulda
Piffle... Still 10 minutes in front of the first american... he was in another zip code when Farah finished... that said, at least your countryman toed the line... where are the other American men ? That's right, the others prefer to duke it out amongst themselves within the safe confines of the US cos you know most would get a kicking in London or Berlin.

Guess what? When a top American (Hall) toes the line in London, he ends up in the same spot as Farah. Eat it.

Farah is a maniacal egotist with a penchant for class clowning. No doubt he'll now excuse his poor performance by saying he twisted his ankle falling off the treadmill at the expo.
Farah is a dick. He’s only beaten Gaylen 22 from 23 times. Any decent runner would of beaten semi-pro Gaylen 23 from 23.

Pre’s legend is based on the fact that he never got the opportunity to run in his prime but he completely dominated the college ranks and his age group. The legend is about what could have been not his 4th place finish.
Pre dominated his age group? What does that mean?
Exactly. What does that mean? The guys he raced and lost against on the international level were in his age category.
Also, I don’t know why people like who he was at all. He is portrayed as an arrogant self indulgent narcissist in every book and movie. If that is true he is not someone anyone should look up to even if he was as good as people say he was.

You mean did toe the line.... Yes, I remember that... but that was 2007 ! Great runner Hall & very informative book but not much advancement amongst the US men since then and his 2007 time is slower than Farah's time today. Hall would swap times with Farah in a heartbeat.

Hall is the one that ran a 2:04. Its Farah that would want Hall's time.

Tougher courses like Boston and New York would destroy Farah due to his bouncy style of running. I would love to see him try it though. He's not a strength runner and wouldn't be able to handle the hills.

In his real marathon career, he was 3rd at London on a hot day with bad pacing in 2:06. He won Chicago last fall with a 2:05, running a somewhat strategic/even effort off of an honest pace. Now he's 5th in 2:05.
If you thought Mo's unmatched championship success on the track at 5000 and 10000 meters (10x gold medalist) makes him the greatest distance runner of all time, then his marathon career to date throws cold water on that. It's not that Mo has been bad at the marathon but being clearly outclassed by someone like Kipchoge who usually lost on the track to Bekele suggests Mo is a step below the all-time greats.
I think if Mo never breaks 2:04 that really hurts any legacy. Mo fans always defend his slow track times because they say he only ran as fast he needed to win. They say Mo's just as good as Geb and Bekele because he could have run 12:40 if that's what it took, but he doesn't care about chasing times.
So far the marathon has disproved that. Mo can still win if the pace is slow, but he simply doesn't have the fitness to win a 2:03 race. After 6 years of sit-and-kick golds, he was finally tested--and he finished in 5th.
Mo is a gray area doper and got spanked by black area dopers.
I wondered if he would do the mo bot as he crossed the finish line
2:05 marathon is overrated? I know the internet has seduced humans into trying to have hot takes and judge the world via anonymous posts, but seriously, how does a message board exist to criticize a 2:05 marathon? For any human to run this fast 20 years ago was unheard of. Give me a break. He ran close to his personal best today. I give kudos to any human who runs to the best of his ability, which is more impressive on any day that sitting behind a computer screen acting high and mighty about people striving to do something you never will.
