Knee jerk boosterism.
I'll take NCAA XC Champ for $1000, Alex.
This man finished 3rd in 2017 and 1st in 2018.
Who is Tyler Day?
Yeah, well he's not an American-born American... Sam Chelanga is an American citizen and has run for the US.

Well actually only part of that is true since Bairu won again in 2005. And then Justyn Knight won last year.
Also Fisher is an American citizen and ran for the US at World Youths in 2013 and World Juniors in 2014.
American as in North America right? He is as "American" as Estrada,Cheserek, Erassa, and Verzbicas. We should honor every athletes citizenship the same.
alabama for the win
I think he has competed in a us championship already.

Chelanga did not become an American citizen until 2015. He was not an American when he won NCAA XC in 2009 and 2010.

http://www.letsrun.com/news/2018/09/grown-different-grant-fisher-weve-ever-seen/GRANT FISHER IS CANADIAN! He will be the first canadian to win since Sheila Reid in 2011 and Simon Bairu before that in 2004!
Real Canadian Rory Linkletter, will win (or die trying). The Kenyan runners will not be a major factor in WI deep freeze. The Donner party ring a bell?

yes, it'll be in the 50's when they run. deep freeze?
you're not from the north, are you? there are many Kenyans on different teams. the ones from Alabama will do just fine.
Kiprop or Kigen.

Grant is not a Yoop. A yooper is reserved for everyone on the north side of lakes.
Was Fisher an American citizen when born? You can be American at birth even if born overseas.
My friend had a baby in China. The baby is not Chinese and was American from birth.
He's from the base of the thumb--nowhere near the UP. He's not a yooper.

That makes Fisher a Michigander, a Michiganian, and a Yooper if he has spent time in the upper peninsula . Let’s debate that too ;).
I hope he wins NCAA XC and becomes the first Yooper to do so.

There was never a favorite like Henry Rono in 1978, and it was pretty cold in Madison that year. Rono is still out there trying to finish, I believe.

Maybe you would be better off dropping the whole "American-born American" racist dog whistle altogether...just a thought
Yes, his mother is American. He is as American in terms of being "natural-born" for US presidency purposes as Ted Cruz.

Wisconsin born and raised. Lil' Sis resides one hour drive North of Madison , and it's already been in the low thirties. Keep dreaming. Tell your Bama guys to bring snow shovels so they can help clear the course. #global cooling #next ice age. #frozen tundra
Alaskan Allie O top of podium.

It was a joke. Play on the fools going back and forth claiming he is this nationality or that.
His mom is American and therefore he is a US citizen at birth. His dad is Canadian and therefore he is Canadian at birth. He has resided in the USA since he was three years old. He has competed for the USA at two world championships.
Oh good, world championships... now we can talk about his athletics and to the OP who will win this years NCAA XC championships and will an American win since Rupp. I don’t know who will win there a lot of good runners from all over the world as always. If an American is going to win, there are plenty of good ones; however Fisher and Day are clearly the favorites based on past results. I hope one of those guys wins. Of the two I hope Fisher wins. Why, because he has an incredible range, has had an amazing high school athletic career and is having an amazing university running career, is very talented, is a young senior at 21, has won an NCAA title and two PAC 12 titles, three NCAA scholar athlete of the year honors, he is a great embassador and roll model for our sport, is going to one of the top universities in the world and majoring in a tough curriculum (electrical engineering), that makes him one of the best young US prospects in middle/distance running and we should cheer this young man as individuals like him don’t come along too often.
