So many things going on here.
#1 You cannot actually be arguing at this point that Kap and Reid should not be on an NFL roster whether as starters or back ups. This thing got drawn out through the legal system. We should have seen this go to trial a while ago.
#2 Kap used his status as an athlete to highlight police brutality. Freedom of speech is still a thing in this country (I think). There is nothing more patriotic than a peaceful protest. He wasn't protesting veterans. There are a whole bunch of vets who support him wholeheartedly. Also if you want to keep focusing on this instead of police brutality, you are a part of the problem. Just because you don't like him, don't like the way he's protesting, does not mean that unarmed black folks are 3-4 times more likely to be gunned down by law enforcement. Law enforcement have difficult jobs, but it is clear that biases run rampant. We need to train officers better. So many other countries do not have the same kind of violence from police to suspects & vice versa. It's a two way street.
#3 Kap & Reid could have taken bogus deals without a decent chunk of guaranteed money...say what you want but more players should be changing how the NFL tries to get out of paying players. Other sports do better with guaranteed money. The players are the product, but the owners are profiting disproportionately compared to other sports.
#4 Kap is still using his platform in a positive way by helping the youth. His Know Your Rights Org is doing great work to teach kids their rights, how to interact with police, help with college prep, and gives out school supplies. The darn communist!!! Seriously he is trying to be a part of the solution. If you are criticizing him, what is your non profit doing so that people do not die in this country when they do not need to?
