The 2 American records are more exciting. Centro loses 5 pounds wins kicking 1500, same as every other yr. Maybe if he ran 3:27 he would be “new” again.
He's probably sobbing into his Gold medal right now.
3:35 and a win not too bad!
Perhaps he's clean unlikely some of his competition.
Almost all championship 1500 races are sit and kick. The exception was the El G era.
And the reason they are sit and kick is pretty obvious: after a prelim (usually requiring around 3:39 to advance) and a semi (usually requiring either a 3:34 to advance, or a final 800m around 1:50), why would you take it out hard in a race with no rabbits? You're making yourself the sacrificial lamb for the field, and even if you're a 3:28 Diamond League Stud, there is simply no way that you will perform as well at a Championship final, taking the field out in 1:53, as you did in a race Monaco, when you were fresh.
Well I really think... wrote:

Come again? Loser like Jager?
Jager is second in the world this year on time. Centrowitz is 11th.
If the WC or Olympic 1500 comes down to a fast race and not a sit and kick, Centro doesn't stand a chance. Jager on the other hand tries to get below that 8 minute barrier every time he races. He has what many would call BALLS.
Yeah, because racing 3 times this year( versus Centro 10+) really shows he has a lot of balls...
What does the number of races one runs have to do with how good they are? If anything, Centro should be better since he races so much. Jager can get away with being a world best on only a few races.

Let's not get too excited. Good step for Centro.
BUT he beat a WEAK, WEAK field. The Brits water down the fields and don't invite many Africans. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it is so their own runners do better.
Centro got beat by the 17 year Norwegian in Monaco and everyone else who was good. He beat the b team in London.

Too bad Jager races 3 times a year.
Centro only actually raced once this year. Sit and kick "events" do not qualify as races.
Call it a fluke, call it what you want. Centro has an Olympic gold medal in the 1500 meter run. This is a fact.
I guess his world champs gold (indoors), silver and bronze are flukes too.
Look at that list of caucasians. Only two African runners? Why was this field so weak? Kwemoi, Manangoi and others were too busy racing the more competitive world juniors meet? lol Centrowitz basically just won the Special Olympic 1500.

I agree. He's running very well right now. Letsrun cares more about fast times than placing - that's obvious.
Centro ran 3:31.7 in Monaco and then won a Diamond League race shortly thereafter. He has a gold medal and WC silver. He runs well when it matters and knows what he's doing so why don't we trust his preparations. I think he has a chance at the AR this year.
Jager is fast and exciting and everything when he rarely races, but doesn't hit his championship goals like Centrowitz does.
what is there to complain about? amazing

I think the guy is a bit of a tool but two good races in 3 days with the win today are note worthy
Even though he is having a bit of success, he isn't doing anything noteworthy. No championship wins, no super fast times, no PR, etc. and he hasn't done any of those things in quite some time.
I'm hoping Centro can go on and run some fast times (AR's, etc.), but nothing he does from here on out can surpass the thrill he gave us in Rio. He can't top an Olympic gold medal. I actually feel kinda bad for him...he achieved his ultimate goal at such a young age. He needs to think about moving up to 5k soon and maybe that will present a new challenge, but hey, look at Willis.
Drew Hunter, man............he's coming. Give him 1-2 more years. Should be arriving just in time for Tokyo.
Jesus you guys are twits. What else do you want from him? He won the race! He ran 3.31 2 days before?!
Yeah he’s a bit of a tool. No it wasn’t the best possible field available right now. But the guy is the Olympic champion, FROM the US - you idiots can show him a little bit of respect.
Justus Soget is one of the better Kenyans and on his way toward the top, but London does not get a lot of Kenyan and Ethiopian runners for whatever reason.
Good to see Centro win a race.

The reason they don’t “get” a lot of Kenyan and Ethiopians is because they don’t “want” a lot of Kenyans and Ethiopians. And the reason why this is is that Spencer and the team are smart business people. A meet in London wants to see fields with plenty of Brits in them and doing well. Ask yourself this - does a track meet in Nairobi fill a stadium to watch German and Finnish javelin throwers?
European capitals filling distance races with Kenyans and Ethiopians at the expense of home grown talent and athletes that can brings that talent along instead of f$&king destroy them is actually what killed off many amazing meets of the past.
London organize their meet the best of any meet on circuit, hands down

These twits all live in Fantasy Land. hE RAN 3:31. He's the Olympic champion, like you said, He's beat a lot of people that are much faster than him because he had the best race plan and closed in 50 at the Olympics.
-They want Centro to run 3:28 but when he does they'll say, "He was with Salazar, he's a doper.
-They want him to try the 5,000m, but when he does they'll say, "he didn't give everything had to the 1500m - shoulda got that American record."
-They want him to win, but when he does, they'll say, "the field was weak" or ""The time was slow"
The only thing these Letsrun twits want is for Ben True to win and run an American record. Pure Fantasy Land....
I really can’t understand why many Americans? don’t appreciate the performances of their runners like Mark Centrowitz. His win in the Rio 1500m final was a brilliant tactical victory.
It’s easy to run a fast time in the middle of a large field being paced to a fast time. Give the guy a break and accept his performances.
When Centro actually wins a FAST race of sub 3:29, then we can consider him a great runner. Until then, he's only an average world class FOLLOWER who happens to be able to out sprint people in a SLOW race, NOT a FAST race. To be a GREAT runner, you must be able to do both.
Gold in a TURD race.
Who's Mark Centrowitz?
