I saw Polly Plummer run in the state meet that year which she won in around 4:38. The track announcer commented that Polly was the girl to watch in the race, "for more reasons than one".
She looks great.
Amazing present and future.

Jesus didn't compete. If he did, the margin wouldn't be 16 seconds.
Undignified.
A woman among girls. Or at least a superstar among stars. She has been training since 7th grade and supposedly supplements running with swimming and strength exercises. Can't get much of a read on the intensity of her training. Anyone have an article that goes into detail about her workouts?? She's obviously training hard, and it shows. Well-developed runner body. Women's bodies change more than men's in the her next few years.... she could lose desire in the future, she could get injured in the future... and yeah, we all die in the future so let her enjoy her blazing success. Great speedy mid-distance stride, great guts, great run.
I think its very important to take into account the conditions she ran this race in too. 92 degrees F with humidity probably making it feel closer to 100 degrees - also only a sophomore. Running solo (or even not) from the beginning in the heat is no easy feat and she celebrated going through the line and looked in control finishing. Would be cool to see her in a professional race like some of the elite guys. She has plenty of time for that though.
There’s a workout Wednesday from her freshman year of cross country where she runs like 5-6 x 1000m at well under her 5k race pace with 1:00 rest. It seemed like a really irresponsible workout, impossible in my opinion for most young runners. She might just be a freak athlete though. Based on that, it seems like she gets pushed really hard. I’m guessing her workouts are pretty darn tough.
Bold statement - in a competitive race in ideal race conditions - racing to her potential, she can run 4:25 in the mile this year. Given her 5k time suggests she could edge under 4:30 and she has come a long way since running that 5k which was also a solo effort with a lot of lane traffic on an indoor track.

I have a genuine question. Why was Sydney McLaughlin not getting this kind of criticism when she was 16??? Makes no sense to bash Tuohy saying she’s “peaking” when McLaughlin almost never got that kind of criticism. In fact, McLaughlin is only 19. People on Letsrun aren’t surprised even when college age woman peak. Why is no one saying “Once Mclaughlin grows into a women’s body, she won’t be nearly as fast as she was?” This whole thing with Tuohy is completely ridiculous, absolutely distasteful, and y’all cant even be consistent with your bashing.
So I'm asking.
Who is Sydney McLaughlin?

It's funny that you're trying to be a smart aleck whilst failing to notice the comma, which results in your looking like an idiot.

If he did, he'd be in the wrong division.

How do you know Jesus doesn’t identify as a transgender?

This thread is now officially off the rails.
What is that supposed to mean? Like her body? Pretty weird for the announcer to call it like that, I don't know if that was more common than it is today or it would always be strange

It's "Plumer", morans.

Did Hart race? I don’t believe so..
Say what you will about Eugene but they would have had way more fans in attendence and much louder cheering.

No, she was too busy losing to London Culbreath at USATF Juniors.

I’m the one that incorrectly wrote Plummer instead of Plumer first. Take full responsibility for that. Noticed the mistake after I posted but no way to edit at that point.
