Why are these guys running track meets in December? They should be building their base.

3:04.76+54.54= 3:59.30 etc
I don't know his exact splits but there's some simple maths wannabe smartass.

He trains 25-35 miles a week, this is a WOW. Also closed in 26 so....
Lagat and Bekele have run faster last 400s while finishing sub-13 5ks. Again, I don't think this is really that remarkable for a world-class 800m runner. And I highly doubt Brazier still runs 25-35 mpw. A year and a half ago, sure. If he still only runs that much, that's pretty surprising. I know he left Johnny Gray because he didn't like his higher mileage training, but that was a while ago. Where is Brazier training now? Back at A&M?
He also ran 46.00 relay leg INDOORS
What could he run for the 5k?
The simple fact that he can also go sub4 is an indication that he is more talented than first thought.

Yes it does. If he went through 1200 in 3:04 and ran his last 400 in 54, that adds up to 3:58 for 1600 meters. But this is a MILE RACE.
Americas stupidness is allways reflected on this websight.

He ran 15:26 in high school xc on a fast course.
This guy is already 20, so breaking 4 for a world class 800m runner is nothing spectacular. To put in perspective, Kiprop had already won a gold medal at 19 in Beijing. Amos was also a teen when he won silver behind Rudy in London.

It was 54 and 27 for last 200m. That’s good for this time of year but nothing special for an elite miler in a 3:59 race.
Actually I stand corrected. Just checked video on Facebook and his last 200m was 26.72 and last 400m was 54.9.

He ran 15:25.4 for 5k in high school, he probably couldn’t go much faster since he’s training solely for middle distance now and even when he was training for cross, he was probably an 800m runner who was so fit and had decent endurance that he could run so fast.
And to everyone saying this isn’t anything special and that kick is nothing to note, this is DECEMBER for an 800m specialist who is 20 years old!! It’s nothing worth blowing up the news about but sure this is really cool! Everyone is always comparing Americans to the world class Kenyans, Ethiopians, etc and then when we have an up and coming American talent, you bash them into the ground anyway. Yeah, Kiprop won gold as a junior and Lagat & Bekele could close 5ks in that speed. You’re talking about the #1 in the 5k and the #2 and #3 in the 1500m. Let the kid live, he’s doing great and probably just racing to build strength for the rounds and doing it WELL.

Wow, that suggest 3:56 or so potential in a faster race if he’s under 3 at 1200.

The last lap isn’t longer; the first one is, idiot!
The real explanation is the decimals.
Indeed.
46.00 indoor FAT Relay split after a 3:59.30 with closing fractions of 26.x indicates amazing speed and speed endurance. He's going to be a force at World Indoors even at this baseline shape. He's got the talent, endurance, and credentials now to really make the next leap.
Leo is done. why do people expect otherwise?
Outstanding to run 3:59 indoors in December for an 800m runner with a pr coming in of probably 4:08, and having a lot left in the last 400m. He could be a very good miler. They fell asleep in the middle 800m of 2:05. Otherwise, you can see him being able to run a lot faster. With these coaches, I'd be surprised to see him go after it, but I believe that this is good for him and that he could run sub 3:50 next year with miler coaches at a diamond league race.
