My biggest issue is with the apparent accepted spelling of the word. "Esports" would be pronounced as a single word rhyming with "escorts." That just sounds stupid. Why not "e-sports," or "e sports"?
I think this is a good idea. It's called moving on with the times.
We know that the reason there are no Snells, Elliotts, Ryuns, Walkers, Coes, Ovetts, Crams today is because white kids prefer twitching thumbs playing computer games rather than running or even any physical pursuit.
A young Seb Coe today would be dominating middle-distance pig riding in Minecraft, and yet the world would be unaware of it.
Let's give the modern generation a chance to shine on the biggest stage of all.
The problem is - does high-altitude and Kenyan 'running efficiency' translate eventually to high-speed sitting down hand, thumb, eye co-ordination? If Kenyans and Ethiopians end up dominating Minecraft pig riding, then there's no point in including it as an Olympic sport.

For a second I thought that said "escorts to be included..." ...oh well.
Me too! Darn, I was ready to sacrifice all to make the team!

Just stop if you are trying to compare esports to art.
If anything, chess should be an event. More skill, more interesting, more difficult, more an art form.
Chess would love to be in the Olympics.
"Considered" is a long ways from "included".
Is trolling considered to be an e-sport?

2020 is a shorter ways than 2020.

You mean 2018 vs 2024.

Not everything needs to be an olympic sport. Esports have their own competitons and if they want to make a every 4 year world championship with competitors from all the nations, they can do that. If esports gets in, why don't chess, art competitions, and auto racing as well?
I had the same thought. If you include video games, why not include poker, competitive eating, etc

Nice stab at white people but it's the overwhelming popularity of e-sports in Asia that make them so valuable. They would win everything too because they are far better at them.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
Does not wanting my kids to watch a bisexual threesome at the Olympics make me a bigot?
