How can you enjoy it without coming on here and rubbing others nose in it?!
Wasn't really a fan. Wasn't sure that he was super elite. Running with the pack for 20 miles and then closing the last 5 miles in sub 2 hour marathon pace. Impressive. And just because he "only" ran 2:09 he isn't fast? Sure. Excited to see if he runs Berlin next year with a pack of guys going out on WR pace. He may not win, but he can legit run in that pack.
Because winning a major marathon against the world record holder means nothing. Beating elites mean nothing. Rupp shows up to the races to win. Is it his fault the others went out in a slow pace. He executed his plan to perfection. Run to win first and foremost. Times are secondary. They only mean a lot to nothing's like you.
Yeah, cause the world record holder is not an elite. What a moron. You people are a joke.
I think his last few miles proved that he is a fast marathoner. Give him an even pace, and Galen can run really fast

2:09:20 on a fast course, you tell me who's the clown.
If Rupp can put up anything close to performance like that in New York next year then THAT's impressive.
This? Keep slurping Salazar's taint, the rest of us are chowing on bratwurst.
Exactly - don't understand the Rupp hate here. He did exactly what you're supposed to do - WIN THE RACE. And all these complainers on here talking about 2:09, kind of interesting that none of the Kenyan 2:04 guys actually ran that, huh? Why aren't we talking about that? Oh, that's right, because the LR board lurves hating on Rupp.
Suck it, haters! Rupp killed it today.

Yes! I would be a 2:04 marathoner and not a 2:09 marathoner. Thats a huge difference. 2:04 will get me invites( appearance fees) to all the major marathons. 2:09 will not even with a win!
fact.
Fact? Do you realize how absurd that word is when the FACT here is that 2:09 DID get him the win (while you say it "will not even with a win!").
And you think Rupp isn't going to get invites and appearance fees after this - setting aside the fact that he was getting them before this? If you think London isn't throwing money at him for next year, you're insane.

Very strange.
Three men on the grassy knoll saw it all.

2:09:20 hah hah... what a joke.
Rupp sycophants can delude themselves but that's absurd...
in Chicago no less.
What's next, winning "New York" in 2:12:30?
Pathetic and disheartening both.
you guys do not understand the sport or racing... maybe you should chose a different activity.
face it losers.... Rupp won, you'll have to live with that forever... just like living with the fact that you all are pathetic losers.
Dude has a 10,000m silver, a Oly bronze in the 26.2, and now a big city marathon win.... and you got what... a turkey trot trophy..... in your age group?
NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY SO MUCH HATE TOWARDS THE GREATEST AMERICAN RUNNER OF ALL TIME. NOW, THEY LOVE THE EPO KING AMERICAN KENYAN LAGAT. WTF??

Let this win sink in Rupp haters. He WON!
No go back to your hobby jogging group runs.
So for all you that thing he won but ran too slow... remove Rupp and AlSal from the equation.
If you were coaching a HS kid and he wins state, but he wins by running 20 sec slower than what won last year, and 30 sec slower than the state record, are you upset with him? NO because the goal is to win.

Show me the Rupp invites overseas as a 2:09 runner? You think Virgin gives a crap about a chicago win of 2:09?
Adola ran 2:03 in Berlin, and Bedan ran an impressive time in London. Those are the hottest names in marathon running. Not Galen. You're smoking.
London isn't america, and neither is Berlin. THEY WANT BLAZING TIMES, which is why Bekele's manage said what he said. Bekele is not getting the dollars anymore because he is not running fast times. His brand has regressed.
Marathons outside of American couldn't give 2 squats about 2:09 bro. Meb was celebrated all throughout america and is an american hero. But overseas? He has no value. They want burners. Period.
So I will take running 2:03 over winning the chicago marathon in 2:09 any day of the week.
Only people screaming about Rupp are Americans. The Robertson twins have a bigger value than Rupp overseas because they can keep up with fast kenyans at half and full marathon.

Well I think he's proved he's not a few times recently.
Here's a little observation for, you don't stay elite for ever.
I live near Chicago.
It’s like 80 degrees out today.

Same.
I will concede that I was wrong about him winning... however I picked his time correctly.

Again, it isn’t that complicated. It is hot here today.

Again, it is complicated when you take in to account the women's times.
