Just learned that Coastal Carolina's Annie Bothma is sitting out this season upon recommendations from a doctor due to a recurring back injury stemming from a auto accident in 2015 at Boise State. She is using a medical redshirt for this season & has 2 seasons eligibility left.
We have a sighting! Today at USC Upstate Invitational meet, Coastal Carolina redshirt freshman Lisha van Onselen finished 2nd overall(1st among actual college runners) competing in bare feet! 2 other former/current CCU runners(Letitia Saayman and Kyla Van Graan) competed unattached in the race. BTW, Saayman was the actual overall winner. Aynslee Van Graan did not compete in the race.
Michelle Dekkers won the NCAA cross country championships for Indiana in 1988 in bare feet. https://kuwhoosiers.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/ind-womens-legend-michelle-dekkers.jpg
Ewww I bet OP is a foot fetishise yuck
Another recent sighting: California Baptist and South African runner Leanda du Bruyn competed at the Lewis University Conference Crossover meet on October 7th in her bare feet. She finished 5th overall. There are photos online on steibshots.com(Grand Valley State-Michigan) SmugMug page. Click on "Grand Valley State 2017 Cross Country" link, then click on 2nd gallery to see photos of the race.

XC in bare feet? Hardcore.
more like asinine. with few, it shouldn't possible to race an XC course barefoot, even for the South Africans. I know this isn't Fell Running (too bad) but golf course "cross country" is a nauseating corruption of what was once a worthy sport.

i know without clicking btw that that's from the Beat!!! in Dallas, Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown bandleader.
I despise LetsRun's many racist posters but kudos to another person of culture.
Lost in the main races at Pre Nationals was the fact that there were unseeded races for men and women as well.In the women's unseeded race, the 2nd place finisher was Texas Tech's Nokuthula Dlamini. She ran the race in bare feet. There is a picture on the Flotrack Twitter feed.

At the Big 12 Conference meet today in Texas, Texas Tech's Nokuthula Dlamini finished in 16th place in the women's race running in her BARE FEET. Flotrack website has stream of the race.
At the Sun Belt Conference meet today, South Alabama freshman Nicole van der Merwe competed in her barefoot-like toe shoes and finished in 12th place. Lisha van Onselen finished 2nd in same race but did not run barefoot due to tough footing on the course.
Also learned via Instagram text message that South Alabama's van der Merwe is going to compete this upcoming spring outdoor season in distance events BAREFOOT (will compete in spikes in indoor season). That's right! She will run outdoors in bare feet!
At the NCAA Southeast Regional XC meet in Virginia on November 10th, Coastal Carolina's Lisha van Onselen competed in the women's race barefoot and finished 55th,therefore not qualifying for next week's nationals in Louisville.
Anyone who runs without shoes on is crazy. In high school I would do barefoot strides on our turf infield and across the nice soccer fields at a local park. While doing strides at the park one of my teammates stepped on a rusty pin that went straight into his foot. He had to go to the hospital to get checked for tetanus and stuff. Since then, I have never ran barefoot.
