I saw it and recorded it on Eurosport here in UK. Just watched it and was a strange race. I think the Kenyans and US teams were playing a lot of cat & mouse. It was wet, and the Kenyans don't seem to like those conditions.
Strangely all 4 of the American guys ran almost identical splits. There seemed to be a residual error of about 0.2 between screen clock and official one, but I had the US team as roughly (give or take a couple of tenths): -
Kidder ~ 1:48.2
Sowinski ~ 1:48.4
Loxsom ~ 1:48.3 (about 24.3 at 200m, 52.1 at 400m)
Murphy ~ 1:48.2 (56.0/52.2) last 200m ~ 24.2
So overall times slow. Kenyans should have made it faster. Great final leg by Murphy though. Totally confident and in control.
