It's a shame they ran the basted 3200 instead of 2 miles.

Like adding 18 meters is totally going to change the outcome of the race.
Grow up.

It's so they can get more guys under 9.

Amazing 3200s for girls and boys. Every year you don't think the number under 9 can go up. And then it does. The power of belief is shown once again.

You're so fuçking stupid, this was probably one of the best high school distance races of all time. Congrats to Teare for coming out on top. I've been watching California distance running for a while now, and I've known Teares name for quite some time, but I never thought I'd see an 8:41 next to it. What a race.

Typical HS boy thinks the world revolves around him.
A 9 minute 3200 is hobby Jogger level for the typical letsrun poster.

9 min for 3200 feet. That is as good as it gets for the typical letsrun poster.
Here is a training sample from Cooper Teare, seems light, but it is just 1 week and in July. Excellent Prospect. http://www.milesplit.com/articles/186290?page=2
How can you say that seems light? Because it's only 65 miles? He's training at the collegiate level. The reasons the top high school runners are improving is basic. Training at this level is producing great high school times and fields.
Just 5 years ago you could count on one hand the number of programs training at this level. Now it's more prevalent. Why have the same number of kids broken 4 in the past decade than the prior 50 years? Because more and talented young runners train more like Ryun, Webb, Liquiori.
Is this a good thing? I don't know. Training at this level in high school gets you a D1 spot and some money, but is a guarantee of collegiate success. Props to all th he's kids breaking 9. How many will be an NCAA all American? I say 2 or 3.

Actually 9 minutes is hobby jogger level.
I'm 71 and I can run a 9 minute mile.
Seriously though...I am impressed at all the young talent and the work they do in order to run these times. (boys and girls!)
How good was Lukas Verzbicas and his 8:29!?
Damn, just another level, and he basically time trialed it.
It is so sad to see so many young kids doped up on EPO.
I wonder how fast Noah Affolder would have run had he been in this race

Yes! I saw the race you're referring to, I pasted the link below since you forgot to. Also a shame to see so many guys in their early to mid 20's claiming to be teens:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XfRkoB0Eto115 went under 9:30! Dang!
The kid with the HS 1600 record ran -60 miles per week his SR year, less not more than Ryun or Liquori. The top three kids all-time at 3000/3200 ran -40-70 miles per week, roughly half as much as Nelson or Lindgren. High volume has been abandoned for quality mileage. More kids run track than ever before. And all-star meets under ideal conditions facilitate fast times.
Traditionally those at Arcadia 3200 would've had to run solo or near solo in generally less spectacular situations.

Well he's back of the pack for like 5 laps and has to solo less than half, but very impressive. Big fan of Lagat making a point to congratulate him.
